Tomorrow is the big ICE protest. We have struggled to know what to do to observe this.

Do we close in solidarity with our brothers and sisters, protesting and striking? Or do we stay open to be a safe and consistent meeting place for our community members, many of whom are impacted by ICE activities more readily and in uglier ways than we are.

It's moments like these that we look for leadership, and we've found it in our friends at Pura Vida. Most days they make a killer Cubano sandwich. Today they also provide right-headed thinking about our national situation.

We'll be following their lead, donating 25% of our sales to Lutheran Community Services, a local organization that provides vital resources to immigrants and their families.

Please consider making your own donation to LCS during this time and also have yourself a Cubano.

Brazil Cafe Delas - Dagmar Resende Pimenta

Café Delas sources green coffee from farming operations owned by women, who are paid directly for their coffee. Perhaps most importantly, the Café Delas program does not only search for circumstances where women are the decision makers behind a coffee, but also actively provides support and education to women involved in coffee to equip them to be leaders of their community.

From the farmer: "The farm coffee production started with my ancestors in 1845. In 1960 started my father’s management. Currently I work with my son Caio Pimenta who is responsible for the technical área in the farm. During these years we are Always acquiring new information about cultivation, harvesting and soil preparation. We have a team which we provide them importante courses and trainings so that They can work following all the ideal guidelines to produce high-quality coffees"

During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, we’re joining forces with local nonprofit With Courage to support families in Yamhill County impacted by a breast cancer diagnosis.

For the whole month of October, $1 from every latte sold will be donated to With Courage.

When you shop local with us, you’re also giving back to a local nonprofit making a difference right here in our community.
