Coffee Kurtis, Kurtis, is our director of coffee, master of fun.

Kurtis wanted to be the World’s Greatest Rapper. Instead, he earned a Master’s in Specialty Coffee.

Kurtis has been in specialty coffee for over 20 years. He is a master roaster, and his past as a Q grader is on full display in the cupping lab. Equipped with a palate that is second-to-none, Kurtis can pull out flavor notes that are hidden in plain sight. Next month, Kurtis is a Judge in ‘Ecuador’s Taza Dorada’ - a competition highlighting Ecuador’s best coffee.

Kevin and Kurtis bounce roasting ideas and philosophies back and forth like Mike and Scottie. Game respect game. Iron sharpens iron. Stagnant water rusts pipe.

Kurtis’s best quality is his sense of humor. No day, or cup of coffee, is dull with Kurtis in the roastery. The music is loud. The jokes are nonstop. You know the coffee is going to be fire 🔥, even if his freestyles aren’t...

Kurtis has challenged us to be even greater, elevating our music, humor, and most importantly, our coffee game at Heady Cup.
