Some names on a menu are just names.

Hong Kong is part of Plum Garden history. 🇭🇰

In traditional Chinese kitchens, cooking was learned through repetition, observation and generations of cooks teaching the next generation the right way to do things.

No shortcuts. No instruction manual replacing experience.

That philosophy has always felt at home at Plum Garden.

Since 1965, we’ve protected recipes the same way: teaching them, cooking them, tasting them and passing them down.

And over the decades, Hong Kong Chicken became more than another entrée.

It became a Plum Garden favorite.

Then came Double Dragon.
Then Hong Kong Fried Rice.

One name weaving its way through generations of our menu.

To us, honoring the past doesn’t mean putting it behind glass.

It means putting it on the plate. ❤️🥢

There’s something powerful about looking back and realizing just how many lives have passed through these doors.

Since 1965, Plum Garden has been more than a restaurant.

It’s been first dates that became marriages.
Family dinners that became traditions.
Kids growing up, then coming back with children of their own.
Birthdays, celebrations, Friday night takeout, and familiar faces we’ve had the privilege of serving for generations.

Through all those years, the world around us has changed.

But some things are worth holding onto.

The recipes.
The techniques.
The people.
The care that goes into doing things the way they were taught to us.

That’s the responsibility we feel every day.

To honor the people who came before us.
To protect what they built.
And to make sure another generation gets to experience it too.

Every choice means something.

The choice to keep a tradition alive.

For more than 60 years, Plum Garden has continued because of choices like those.

Our family chose to carry on what was started before us. And every time you choose Plum Garden, you’re helping us carry it a little further.

Every once in a while, something happens that reminds us what a restaurant really gets to be.

Anthony and Hailey recently sent us their wedding invitation! Along with a note telling us that their very first date was at Plum Garden more than eight years ago! They sat across from each other, nervous, sharing Hong Kong Chicken and pork fried rice, making conversation about the Chinese zodiac signs on our placemats.

And now they’re getting married. ❤️

To be invited to their wedding, and to know that our little restaurant holds a place in the story of how their life together began, is something we don’t quite have the words for.

After all these years, this is what Plum Garden means the most to us. It’s not just the meals we’ve served. It’s first dates. Family dinners. Birthdays. Anniversaries. Kids growing up in the booths. People falling in love across the table. Ordinary nights that, years later, turn out to have been anything but ordinary.

Anthony and Hailey, thank you for sharing this with us and for allowing Plum Garden to be one tiny chapter in such a beautiful story.
