Ya’ll say hello to Loretta! Loretta is one of three Golden Laced Wyandotte hens here on the farm. While her sister lays pale brown eggs, Miss Loretta is the only one who gives us beautiful brown eggs covered in darker brown speckles.

She’s got those stunning gold-and-black laced feathers too — and she knows it. Loretta is a bit of a show-off like that.

Funny enough, she’s also one of the few hens that actively seeks me out for company. She figured out pretty quickly that if she’s out free-ranging and one of the roosters won’t leave her alone, all she has to do is come stand by me. I’ll scoop her up and shoo that rooster away reaaaaal quick.

So if you stop by the farm stand and spot a fancy little hen hanging close by, chances are you’ve just met Loretta — our speckled-egg-laying, people-loving Golden Laced Wyandotte. 🐔✨

Everyone meet Patsy. 🐔

Patsy is a real pain in the kisser.

Whenever I let the chickens out to free range, you can bet your bottom dollar she'll be the last one to figure out how to walk through the gate... and the last one to realize that's still the way back into the coop at night.

She's not exactly the brightest bulb in the barn, but she sure is cute. At least that's what I tell myself while I'm chasing her around, trying to convince her that the coop door is wide open and the ENTIRE rest of the flock is already inside. 🤦🏻‍♀️

So if you’re ever swinging by and you see me chasing a white chicken around, hollering, “Dammit, PATSY, go in the coop!” ….. here’s why. 😉

Introducing Elvis — he’s got our hens all shook up! 😉

Elvis is one of three Light Brahmas here on the farm. Brahmas are known for their impressive size and gentle, affectionate personalities. Much like his namesake, when Elvis is trying to impress the ladies, he gives those tail feathers a good shake—and trust me, the hens swoon every time.

He’s one of three roosters you’ll spot around the farm, keeping a watchful eye on the flock and making sure his girls stay safe. If you stop by the stand, don’t be surprised if you catch Elvis putting on a show! 🐓✨

Meet Lucille! 🤎

She’s the only Bielefelder hen in the flock, and she has the beautiful coloring to prove it. When she’s not free ranging and kicking her feet around looking for bugs, you can usually find her tucked away in the nesting box laying the beautiful light brown eggs you can find in your fresh dozen from the stand.🥚
