It is with heavy heart that we have to announce Chicora Alley in Mauldin will be closing its doors this Saturday evening, June 29th. Our lease has been expired for almost a year with the City of Mauldin.

Chicora Alley was originally recruited by the City of Mauldin, to occupy a dilapidated Taco Bell building, owned by the City. We were excited to be a part of the revitalization of Mauldin, and to be a part of the Center City Project. However, after 7 years of business, none of the revitalization has come to fruition. For 6 years we have seen several new plans for the Center City Project, all the plans included Chicora Alley.

About a year ago, Chicora Alley was presented with the newest plan, and we were omitted from the plan, with only one option, to purchase the property. We submitted a fair offer, and never received a response or counter offer from the City of Mauldin for over 5 months. After this option was not successful, we requested a new lease numerous times, but have been encouraged to operate month to month indefinitely. Because of many expensive repairs and renovations that need to be done, it has become not a financially sound endeavor.

Since Chicora in Mauldin opened, we tried to create a place for locals and families to congregate, and we succeeded in that mission. We are grateful to those who have graced over our tables, our loyal patrons and our amazing staff that have made Chicora Alley in Mauldin a success for all these years, you will all be missed.

Chicora Alley Downtown and in Travelers Rest will not be impacted and will be operating in those wonderful cities for years to come.
