September at The Perfect Cup is rooted in remembrance. 🌿☕️

When we planned this month, we chose a theme centered around roots, resilience, and the stories that stay with us through change.

September already carries a lot of history for this community. It asks us to remember, to honor what has shaped us, and to notice the ways people and places continue forward after difficult chapters.

We didn’t know when we chose those words just how personal they would feel this year.

So this month, we’re holding a little more meaning in the theme than we expected.

We’ll be remembering. We’ll be celebrating resilience. We’ll be sharing stories of place, people, and the things that take root and remain.

And we’ll begin with this month’s featured coffee from Guatemala. Over the next few weeks, we’ll follow its story from root to cup and explore how place, process, and people shape what eventually reaches our tables here in Matlacha.

Some themes are planned. Some grow into something more. 🤍

There are some people who become part of a place simply because they’ve been there through so much of its story.
We are deeply saddened to share that our longtime teammate and friend, Jason, has passed away.
Jason was part of The Perfect Cup for many years. If you spent much time around our kitchen, you probably knew his personality, his quick wit, and very possibly his grumbling from behind the line. ❤️ He was also one heck of a speed line cook, and when things got busy, Jason knew how to move.
More importantly, he was part of our little Cup family and part of the history of this place. There will be an absence in our kitchen and our lives that we will feel for a long time.
Our hearts are with Jason’s family, friends, coworkers, and everyone in our community who knew him.
Rest easy, Jason. Thank you for all the breakfasts, busy mornings, years, and memories you gave The Cup. You will be missed.
