Our goal is to create a warm and welcoming environment while creating a positive social impact by providing employment opportunities for those with a plucky spirit. We are Mike and Carisa and we want to welcome you to The Plucky Café located at 850 E. Our mission is rooted in values that truly matter; to help build a community that is welcoming, active, and supportive—and Marshfield embodies all o

f that and more. Equally important to us was creating a business that provides meaningful opportunities for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. This has been a 20+ career commitment for us both and a passion to foster inclusion, dignity, and opportunity for all. A portion of our proceeds goes directly to support those attending CC Rising, a program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Our name, The Plucky Café, reflects the spirit behind our vision. “Plucky” means courageous, brave, fearless and determined - qualities that inspire us daily. We have been blessed with plucky spirited family and friends, and we hope to get to know many more. At The Plucky Café, we’re more than just a place to enjoy food and conversation. We’re a space built on community, courage, and inclusion.

We begin our last day at The Plucky Café full of joy and appreciation for the support of this community and this awesome team of people. This crew has been the heart and spirit of being “plucky”; courageous, brave, fearless and determined. We’re a space built on community, courage, and inclusion; with the closing of the café we are able to further this with expanding our CC Rising program, currently operating on the other side of our building. CC Rising is a day program with Stepping Stones, a Department of Mental Health provider of supports for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. CC Rising is located here in Marshfield providing support at our facility, in the community, and in participant’s homes. We support individuals with opportunities to build towards their goals of independence, employment, community inclusion, and to have meaningful experiences.

Good News/Bad News:

Bad News: The Plucky Cafe is closing, and our last day will be July 2nd.

Good News: The reason for closing is great news, we have an opportunity to expand the Stepping Stones/CC Rising program supporting individuals with developmental disabilities. We operate this program on the adjoining side of our building and it is busting at the seams, in need of more space. Our program continues to grow and to accommodate this we need to expand into the cafe side, allowing us to support more individuals. With this expansion we can enhance our programming and create more opportunities overall, which has always been at the heart of what we do.

This has been a very difficult decision to make as we have met so many amazing people in this community. It has been so awesome watching the growth of our employees, they have been the backbone of the cafe and have such a plucky spirit!

As we are sharing this news with everyone we would like to thank you for your support.
Words cannot express how blessed we feel to be part of this community. We are continually grateful for the amazing people we meet and the friendships we have gained along the way.
