We are hosting a meet and greet for our dear friend this coming Monday, October 5th, from 5:30-7:30pm at in the
This will be our 3rd event for Jamie and we are planning to build on the momentum and enthusiasm we’ve already created. Spread the word, tell your friends, show up and most importantly turn out to vote!!
People ask me why I support Jamie Ager and it’s because we’ve been friends for 28 years. I’ve watched him show up for his community and his family, and build into a great Buisness focused on regenerative agriculture with his wonderful wife .
Jamie cares. He understands. He’s our people. He’s a strong mountain Democrat. I trust him 100% and will vouch for his character all day long.
Personally, I’ve never been more excited to vote for someone in my whole life and I’m just trying to do my part to get us the representation I believe we deserve here in the mountains.
Come on out and listen to what Jamie has to say about the issues and see for yourself that he is the best option for us in November.
Thank you all for listening and showing up.

This Sunday, September 27th from 3-5pm, we are coming together at Zadie’s and Old Marshall Jail Hotel to dedicate the Building Community Folk Monument to the people of Madison County and the people of the world who helped create it.
The dedication ceremony will begin at 3:30 and include speeches by the artist Josh Copus, Mayor Aaron Haynie, Governor Josh Stein, record brick makers Pax Horne and Desmond Schwartz. There will be a special singing performance in the monument by Donna Ray Norton and Sheila Kay Adams. Followed by a ribbon cutting ceremony.
After the dedication ceremony there will be a performance on the Zadie’s patio stage by members of the Nest of Singing Birds.
This is the latest in a series of folk monuments facilitated by Josh Copus as a part of the Building Community Project he founded in 2007.
This monument, titled “HOME”, is comprised of over 4,000 bricks decorated by the people of the world. Participants were invited to write, draw or otherwise express their feelings and sentiments in the wet clay bricks.
Each brick is a monument to whatever you need it to be about and this project is dedicated to upholding the principle of free speech and honoring human expression.
It’s was inspired by the events surrounding Hurricane Helene but it is not specifically a monument to the flood.
All of the bricks were made and fired in collaboration with Taylor Clay Products.
The bricks were organized and laid in their final shape by Josh Copus and his team, including Ayden, Joseph, Gerald and Frankie.
HOME is the people. The people make the place. This piece of Art is a love letter to the community surrounding Marshall, NC. It’s a sense of place. It’s a place for contemplation. It’s a ruin. It’s a cathedral. It’s the room of requirement. It’s a time capsule. It’s a tapestry of invisible threads woven together. It’s a monument to regular folks and to empathy, love and connection. It’s a reminder that we are all unique but we are actually not that different.

Come join us, all together this Sunday.

Today we mourn the passing of another one of our most favorite people and a true Madison County character like no other.
Geraldine Bradburn Brown passes away August 28th and was laid to rest today beside the love of her life, Lowery Worley, at Kirk Payne cemetery in the Little Pine area.
Geraldine worked as the dispatcher for Madison County Sheriffs Department for 26 years, including 22 years at the Old Marshall Jail, which is how we came to know her.
She started as a dispatcher in 1990 with Sheriff Dedrick Brown and would continue to work for John Ledford and Buddy Harwood during their tenures as Sheriff, until her retirement in 2016.
I can honestly say that Geraldine is my favorite person that we met through the Old Jail project.
She was such a character.
We were not particularly close and I didn’t know her first that long but she certainly made a big impact on me in a short period of time.
She was straight to the point and told it like she saw it.
One day she told me today she “knew those boys in jail and she knew their situations”
That hit me because I instantly got what she was saying.
Product of your raising is real. And if you know someone’s “situation” you inevitably treat them with more empathy and understanding…which this world needs more of so badly right now.
She told me “all she ever tried to do was help. If those boys were hungry, I’d just make them a sandwich!”
Maybe it’s just that simple.
Honestly, maybe you can make a difference with sandwiches.
That idea was one of my biggest inspirations for starting Zadies!!!
The idea that maybe it’s as simple as making people a sandwich and making a difference that way.
You can certainly make a difference by feeding the hungry and taking care of those less fortunate than you.
Geraldine did that. She made a difference in her own small way. She also made a huge impact on me.
She was one of my biggest inspirations even though she probably wouldn’t believe me if I told her that.
Sometimes I would just go up to the Burger Parlor just to see Geraldine. She was one of a kind.
I’m gonna miss Geraldine.
We are losing a lot of our old timers right now.
I’m just glad I got some time with them.

Join us this weekend for a most delicious flounder po’ boy, perfectly balanced vegan soup, and some remarkable new wines. The Kačasti winery uses 400+ year old vies to grow their grapes, and plants them in serpentine rows… both of these wines are incredibly well balanced, with deep character and unexpected flavor.
