*CLOSING FOR LUNCH TODAY, THURS 7/16*
We will be re-evaluating conditions late afternoon and trying to open for dinner service at 5pm
A brief explanation as to why we are closing when other restaurants stay open:
As many in our community know, our building was originally an automobile garage when it was first constructed and has since evolved into the restaurant we have today. As a result, our grills and fryers are behind the bar in the service area, and the return air vents for our hood system are in the galley further back in our kitchen. And while there are filters on our return air vents, these filters are not rated to remove wildfire smoke, thus resulting in our kitchen staff being subjected to outside air being pulled directly into their work stations. Also, this air gets pulled into our dining room and makes our dining room smokey as well.
While these hazardous conditions persist, we cannot in good conscience subject our staff and patrons to these air quality conditions indoors as well as outdoors.
We are cautiously hopeful that changes in the wind will bring the air quality conditions down out of the hazardous zones over the next couple hours.
