August is here, and we’re ready to keep barnstorming!

We’re kicking off a month of concerts tonight at Codfish Hollow, and while we may have finally broken July’s heat, our iced lattes are still sweating! Come ready to be refreshed on a warm summer night with a blueberry latte.

Codfish has another month of great music and we can’t wait to hear the sound of the Talbott Brothers drifting through the barn doors tonight! 

Take your chances at the gate and snag a ticket when you arrive to see the Talbott Brothers (if the show hasn’t sold out, of course 😉)!

Storytelling is an art form.

We tell stories through words, images, music, and things crafted by hand. And at The Slow Sipper, we tell stories through the medium of coffee.

This Saturday and Sunday, we will be popping up at DBQfest | Iowa’s Oldest Art Fair & Festival, pouring coffee alongside a community of artists and makers we’re proud to be part of. We will be debuting our August special that tells a story of love; a blueberry latte.

The summer I, Beth, fell in love with Tyson, I was working on a blueberry farm in Bayfield, Wisconsin, Highland Valley Farm. I’d spend hours among the rows of blueberries, picking them and listening to the stillness of the northern-pined valley. 

It was a summer of figuring things out; who I was, what I wanted, and, somewhere along the way, who I would spend my life with. 

When blueberry season rolls around, I remember the peace of those long days of picking. I’d ground myself in the rhythm of harvesting, let my mind wander and find a smile on my face when I thought about him. I didn’t know it then, but those quiet days in the blueberry rows were the very beginning of us.

So, we’re putting a little bit of that story in your cup, made of (and with) love!

We’re stoked to be popping up at Roll-On-Records for the very first time today at noon! Spend the day digging through stacks of records, listening to live music, and sipping something special.

We are collaborating on bar with our friend John at Wileypie Coffee. One of the things we love about coffee is building community with folks, like John, who share our values of quality, curiosity, and artistry! We’re honored to feature a Nicaraguan natural he’s been roasting.

Come for the records, stay for the music, and leave caffeinated!

Barnstorming in June looks like purple stained fingers from wild ripe mulberry trees, and that was before I ever found Codfish Hollow! As a young girl, when I would visit my grandparents’ farm near Bellevue, the mulberry trees grew beside the grain bins and cattle barns. Grandma would make mulberry pies from the fresh berries we’d pick and sometimes our mouths would be stained darker than our fingertips!

This month, we're bringing that nostalgia to Codfish Hollow by way of a locally foraged drink; a mulberry latte!

This hyper-seasonal flavor is here for a few weeks, then gone until next year, making mulberries one of nature's sweetest reminders to slow down and enjoy the coming of the solstice.

So if you spot us at the barn this month, come grab a drink and enjoy the taste of early summer in Iowa under the bright June night. 🫐☕️✨

We’re excited to be barnstorming at again this year. Last season, this eclectically concert venue in Maquoketa became one of our favorite places to set up shop - watching incredible folk, indie, and roots artists take the stage while we poured lattes for music lovers.

We sold out for the first time at one of these shows, but honestly, it wasn’t just about the coffee. It was about being part of something special - this intimate space where artists and audience connect in ways that only happen in barns like this.
We’re back for the full 2026 season, and if you’ve never experienced a show at Codfish Hollow, May is calling your name. There’s really nothing quite like live music in a barn under the Iowa sky.
