TONIGHT!! After the First Friday Sip ‘n Stroll from 6:00-8:00, drop by GHOST Colony Tavern for our official kickoff to Halloween Island with “MONSTER CHEZZE” playing from 8:00-11:00!

The new shirt design is here!!

For generations, cartographers making nautical maps of the Carolina coast frequently included images of sea monsters lurking in and around Pamco Sound. Is there something in the water that has existed for centuries? 

Now, the age-old mystery splashes to life in a new original T-shirt design by local artist Britton “Moondog” Ricketts! Loch Ness has Nessie; Lake Champlain has “Champ.” Now…we have “Pam” — The Pamlico Sound Monster!

These shirts are available now for a limited time only for our 2026 “Ghost Colony Tavern” event as part of Halloween Island. Gets yours online at lostcolonytavern.com, or by stopping by The Hop Shop. As our annual Oktoberfest menu continues to evolve each year, for 2026 we changed gears a bit to better reflect the fare found on the menus of the many Oktoberfest b**r tents found at the Theresienwiese fairgrounds in Munich.

One of the dishes we’re most excited about is KAISERSCHMARRN (German for 'Emperor's Mess'), a lightly sweetened pancake that takes its name from the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph I, who was fond of this fluffy shredded dessert. It is traditionally sprinkled with golden raisins & powdered sugar, and served with plum dipping sauce…since plums were historically very popular among royalty across the region, being a rare treat which most common folk could never afford.

Our Kaiserschmarrn is handcrafted with love & passion right here in downtown Manteo by our very own Kellie Cook Bell, who used an authentic Bavarian recipe to create this tasty treat.

Also, this is Kellie’s final week with us here at Lost Colony Tavern, since next week she embarks on an exciting new culinary journey with a popular local retail establishment in Nags Head. Drop by this Friday or Saturday and give Kellie your best wishes as she sets out on a fun new chapter of her life, and enjoy this incredible Oktoberfest dessert she has crafted for us! PROST!! 🍺

Oktoberfest is here! 🥨 For a peek into what we’re featuring on this year’s menu of traditional Oktoberfest dishes, we’re continuing to roll out some photos of our authentic Bavarian delights!

Pictured: 1/2 WIESN DUCKEN — One half of a roasted Bavarian peasant duck served with boiled red cabbage, käsespätzle and house-fermented sauerkraut, served with our incredible Alpine plum dipping sauce.

Enough of the teasing — Here it is, finally revealed…the newest entry into the monster menagerie of Outer Banks folklore & legends: THE PAMLICO SOUND MONSTER!

For over 400 years, maritime cartographers have included images of sea serpents on their maps of Pamlico Sound, and sailors’ tales of strange nautical creatures still haunt these waters to this very day.

Now, enjoy this local legend come to life in a brand new original design by local artist Britton “Moondog” Ricketts featuring natives & settlers battling this protective marine mama and her offspring in the shallow waters of Shallowbag Bay. Shirts will be available on October 1 in Flo Blue, Terracotta, and Midnight Black. Get yours at The Hop Shop or by calling (252) 423-3033!
