To all our family, friends, and most valued guests:
We would firstly like to offer our deepest and most sincere apologies for not delivering more consistent reports on events as they continue to unfold and occur.
Our priority continues to be to work under the service of all our first responders. We are proud to have served by their side and behind them as they fought day and night over the past 120 hours.
We are honored by our own staff for offering their life to the land we all call our homes.
Social media is still a new outlet for our very old family and we strongly believe the power of mis-information is often more dangerous than no information at all.
Under the preparation and foresight of Glen Gerson and the genius of Bobby Milstein we can confidently report that our land has been preserved with significant but relatively minor losses.
Our internal fire suppression system created in unison with our local fire department and Bobby and Glen, was truly a success and proof of the invaluable relationship of a public/ private partnership.
Our updates are as follows and ONLY subject to the changing condition of road closures.
Malibu Cafe will open with our full menu this Saturday 11/17 and proudly serve free meals to all first responders and their families from the fire police public works departments
Many of our neighbors have been devastated. You too are welcome to dine with us free of charge.
Locals of Malibu will also be welcomed at anytime during this ongoing ordeal at 50% off or basically our cost.
Our accommodations at The Calamigos Guest Ranch are unharmed and have been protected by the extraordinary efforts of our community first responders and our own teams. We will be ready to welcome guests for thanksgiving on Thursday 11/22.
All of our wedding and event facilities are safe and unharmed. By effort and preparation and the guiding hand of a higher power we are grateful to be able to continue with all upcoming events. We do not take lightly the trust that you have placed in our family and our teams. We are continuing to push through the challenges of the past 6 days and what we will be ahead of us to produce scheduled events from this weekend and going forward.
We would also be honored to extend an open hand to any facilities who have not been as fortunate and have upcoming events. Please contact our events department and we will do what is right and fair.
Although we lost many of our student housing facilities, sustained major damage to the Calamigos Beach Club and lost many homes including Garner Gerson’s own home, we look forward to the future to rebuild and welcome guests, neighbors and students back to The Ranch very soon.
As land stewards of this incredible land we are truly blessed to have been given the task of protecting Calamigos Ranch. We will continue to work hard to preserve this land and keep our doors open to welcome you all for now and future generations.
Thank you for all of your prayers and support,
Glen, Mon-Li, Garrett, Garner, Kristi, Greyson and Gentry
