At some point, someone left a coin beneath Stellaโ€™s purse.

No one knows who.

There wasnโ€™t a sign.

There wasnโ€™t a request.

There wasnโ€™t even a reason.

At least not one we gave them.

Then another coin appeared.

And another.

Today, a small collection rests beneath a black beaded purse that hangs inside Leftyโ€™s.

The purse belonged to Stella Johnson.

According to family history, Stella was visiting Hot Springs in the 1920s when coins began falling through a tear in the side of her purse. The man who stopped to gather them and hand them back was President Calvin Coolidge.

The story survived.

The purse survived.

And somehow, decades later, guests started returning the coins.

We like to think Stella would have smiled at that.

Next time youโ€™re at Leftyโ€™s, take a look beneath the purse.

Rainy evenings have a way of slowing things down.

Garlic herb butter melting into a hand-cut ribeye. Blue cheese crumbles. Caramelized onions. Sautรฉed mushrooms. Three grilled shrimp. A loaded hasselback potato on the side. And of course, those Brussels.

The weather may not be perfect tonight.

Most people order the 1921 Burger because it's one of the best burgers they've ever had.

Aged cheddar.
Candied bacon.
House aioli.
Pickled red onions.

But every night, at least one table asks the question:

"What's 1921 mean?"

The answer goes back more than 100 years.

Long before Lefty's was Lefty's, this building was a hotel. In 1921, Francis "Lefty" Miller won the property in a card game on three threes.

That's where our 333 Club gets its name.

And that's why our signature burger carries the year that changed everything.

Some guests come for dinner.

Some leave with a story.

Behind the bar, Lefty watched plenty of men celebrate what they thought was a good deal.

The sweetness came first. Then came the heat.
