💛 Christmas has come and gone, and as we reflect on the holiday season, all of us at the Monacan Indian Nation Food Bank want to say how deeply we hope your days were filled with warmth, love, and meaningful time with family and friends.

As we prepare for 2026, the need in our community does not slow. Food insecurity remains a very real challenge in and around Amherst County, Virginia, where many of our neighbors are still facing difficult choices between buying food, paying utilities, or covering other basic needs. Local food banks like ours are often the first line of support—and every donation stays right here, helping families we know and serve.

💚 There is still time to donate before the end of the year.
As a nonprofit organization, we are more than happy to provide a receipt or donation letter for tax purposes, so your generosity can be claimed while making a meaningful impact.

Supporting local matters. When you give locally, you help:
🥫 Keep shelves stocked for families facing hunger
🌱 Strengthen community-based solutions rooted in dignity and care
🤝 Ensure your generosity directly benefits neighbors in Amherst County and surrounding areas

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with us—through donations, volunteering, sharing our posts, or simply keeping our mission close to your heart. Together, we continue to show that this community takes care of its own.

Today is Giving Tuesday December 2, 2025💙

And for Native communities across the country, it is also Native Giving Tuesday — a day dedicated to uplifting, supporting, and investing in Indigenous-led organizations that serve their people with heart, culture, and community at the center.

Native-led nonprofits receive less than 0.4% of charitable giving nationwide, yet they carry the responsibility of meeting growing needs, preserving culture, and caring for their communities. Your support today helps close that gap.

If you’re looking for a meaningful place to give, please consider supporting the
Monacan Indian Nation Food Bank – Amherst Virginia.

Your donation helps us:
• Serve Tribal and non-Tribal families four days a week
• Provide weekly food support to children, elders, and neighbors in need
• Keep our shelves full and no one turned away
• Continue honoring our cultural commitment to nourish and care for our community

As we come together for Thanksgiving meals with our families, we are reminded of the deep meaning this season holds—especially for Native peoples. For many Native American communities, Thanksgiving is a complex day. It is a time to honor resilience, remember our history, and lift up the strength of our ancestors, while also celebrating the blessings we continue to share with one another.

No matter how you observe this season, we extend our warmest wishes to you and your loved ones. May your day be filled with gratitude, togetherness, and peace.

🧡🦃 This season of giving has our hearts overflowing.

As we prepare for Thanksgiving, we’re grateful for every neighbor who walks through our doors, every volunteer who shows up with a smile, and every supporter who gives so generously. Together, we’re making sure families have warm meals, dignity, and hope.

If you feel called to give this season, we would be honored to receive your support — but if our Food Bank isn’t the nonprofit that speaks to your heart, we encourage you to give to any organization that inspires you. What matters most is lifting our community together. ❤️

Thank you for helping us turn gratitude into action.

🍂 With love from all of us at the

In Amherst County, VA, the Monacan Indian Nation Food Bank is doing something powerful: feeding kids and preserving culture at the same time. 🧡🌽

The Monacan Indian Nation has called Virginia’s Piedmont and Blue Ridge home for centuries. Today, their community continues that legacy of care through the MINCF Food Bank, which served children an estimated 2,121 times in 2024 alone.

This fall, No Child Goes Hungry partnered with MINCF to help launch a kid-focused, take-home food program to support children on weekends, evenings, and holidays—those times when access to school meals disappears. These kits will include locally sourced items when possible, shelf-stable staples, and kid-friendly foods families can count on.

As NCGH Founder and Director Kären Rasmussen shared, MINCF’s work is about “Caring for children today while strengthening community resilience for tomorrow”—and we’re honored to play a small part in that story.
