Today's Senior Spotlight is Amelia! Amelia started working here during her junior year of high school, and she immediately made a difference! From the very first time I met her, I was beyond impressed by her leadership, maturity, and positive attitude. She has grown into someone our newer team members look up to, and I am so thrilled that we get to keep her on our team this fall as she begins her exciting next chapter in her future career in law.

Amelia graduated from Dakota High School with a 4.04 GPA and maintained Honor Roll status every quarter throughout high school, and did so while working! She was a member of both National Honor Society and National English Honor Society, participated in Student Leadership for two years, and was involved in Student Government all four years. During her senior year, she served on the Student Government Executive Board as Communications Officer. She was also a county finalist in the Macomb Innovates Student Pitch Competition.

This fall, Amelia will be attending the University of Detroit Mercy on a merit scholarship as part of the six-year accelerated law program. She will major in Business Administration on a pre-law track, and if anyone can handle it, it is her!

Amelia's favorite ice cream is Eskimo Kisses!

We are so proud of Amelia and everything she has accomplished! Please join us tonight to congratulate her and wish her the very best as she begins college. Congratulations, Amelia! We can't wait to see where your hard work and determination take you!

Continuing our Senior Spotlight...let's congratulate Anthony on his amazing years at Dakota! Anthony is one of the most motivated, dependable, and energetic teenagers I have ever met. He has been an incredible part of our community and on our team for the past 4 years, and his high school accomplishments are truly impressive!

He was an active member of Student Government, the District Design Advisory Team, and the National German Honor Society, while also serving as a DECA Chapter Officer. Through DECA, he qualified for States in Financial Consulting and earned International Placement in Adobe Personal Branding.

He participated in Student Leadership for three years and founded Dakota Fights Cancer, an organization that raised an incredible $25,000 for the cause and even earned recognition on the news. He also served as a Dakota Boosters Student and Marketing Trustee.

A four-year football player, he earned All-Academic Athlete Honors while balancing academics, athletics, leadership, and working as many shifts as I would let him. He also earned 1st place in the 2025 Macomb Innovates Student Team Pitch Competition.

And you might recognize him for something completely different…You may have even seen him in the media during the senior pranks, including making pancakes in the principal's driveway and officiating a wedding for a couple of classmates in the cafeteria!

Next up, he's headed to Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in Business Leadership. He earned CMU's Maroon and Gold Scholarship, along with additional community and school scholarships - the Henrih Alikaj, Dakota Boosters, DECA, Diana Owens, and Jack Gargalino Scholarships.

We are so proud of everything he has accomplished, and although we joke about him being my "second son", I really am going to truly miss him. Good thing he trained some replacements for this fall season. Please stop in tonight to congratulate him and wish him the very best as he begins this exciting next chapter at CMU!

Each year I like to spotlight our graduating Seniors. The team is what makes us so successful, and I am always impressed with how much they can accomplish in their lives. This year I waited until all of their other events and parties were over to remind them how important they are. Today will be our first - Olivia!

Olivia (Liv) has been working here for almost 4 years, and I am going to miss her energy, positivity, and that amazing smile more than I can say!

Liv has accomplished so much during her high school career. She played volleyball all four years, varsity for three years and captain her senior year, while maintaining an incredible 4.087 GPA at Dakota High School. She was also an active member of National Honor Society, Key Club, Best Buddies, Spanish National Honor Society, UNICEF, Psychology Honor Society, and the Student Athletic Advisory Council.

She was involved in Student Government all four years, participated in Student Leadership for two years, and served as both Historian and Treasurer of She’s the First. Liv knows how to stay busy, make a difference, and do it all while working shifts every week!

Next week, she heads off to Central Michigan University to pursue a degree in Secondary Education with a minor in Leadership. She has been accepted as a Leadership Advancement Scholar and received the Maroon and Gold Merit Recognition Scholarship. She also earned the Shawnee Elementary Scholarship and Jim Causley Buick Scholarship.

Liv's favorite ice cream is Michigan Pothole!

Stop in these next couple of days to say hello and join me in congratulating Liv on all of her incredible accomplishments and wishing her the very best as she begins this exciting new chapter at CMU! We are going to miss you, Liv!
