July was a dream! So excited for August but I'm not going to lie, I can feel fall on the horizon and it's taking all my willpower to not start decorating for Halloween. This warm, gorgeous weather is helping hold spooky season at bay, though, and I can't wait for another gorgeous summer month on Mackinac!

Early August morning ride to work in Mackinac Island! We had some pretty hot, sticky days here on the island, but overnight rain showers have burned off the humidity and there was a lovely, cool breeze on my way down this hill this morning. I know it's only August but I am getting so excited for fall! My seagull was waiting for me at the dock this morning as he does every morning. He follows on the outside of the building as I go back and forth from the kitchen to the store. He even knocks on the door of the store if I don't have a little piece of cookie out for him 🫣😂 what shall I name him?

35, you were a trip! Thank you all who made the last year one of my most memorable and unexpected years to date! I am so fortunate that I get to turn another year older in my favorite place with my favorite people. So excited to see what 36 has in store and I can't wait to share it with all of you. Cheers! 🥂🩷

Fall on Mackinac! The truth is that fall is actually my favorite season on the island - and it's not even a close race. Fall has been my favorite season forever, from walking across campus to a football game at Michigan State University to now biking down in the early morning to bake cookies, everything is more magical in the fall. If you haven't been to Mackinac in the fall, put it on your list! Just prepare to want to come back every single year 😉🍁

Apparently it's a competition now to see who create the best videos and I have to say, Brad is giving me a run for my money! He had a gorgeous boat ride the other day to do a drop of all of the things we needed, and were very fortunate to have a Dad willing to hop in a boat and buzz over with the goods at the drop of a hat. Thanks, Dad 🩷🍪

The consensus seems to be that everyone loves winter content the most! While it is a magical time for sure, I'm not quite ready to wish summer on Mackinac away just yet 🫣 BUT for those of you who are antsy to see snow again, here's a little side by side of winter and summer on the island. The air feels so crisp and clear this morning! Cooler temperatures have rolled in with the rain last night and it made for a glorious start to the day all around. Back home to make breakfast and keep packing.

Clear skies and moving things! The air feels fresh once again after a few days of smoke so we are back to our regularly scheduled summer on Mackinac. For those who have been curious about the move: yes, we live on the island already. Yes, we are staying on the island. We're moving down the road, just far away enough to make it a little tricky. So far I've been utilizing my bike and garden cart, but we might end up having to call a dray so that we can get the majority of stuff over in one swoop. Is there a worse time to move 4 people than July? TBD 😂 this is our third move on the island in 3 years, my hope is that our next move is into our dream house and we can be 4 and done. Going back and forth on painting the place, but I will show the final product once we're in!
