FOUR DAYS. FOUR DIFFERENT SPECIALS, AND ONE REALLY BIG DILL🥒😂

We've been busy in Mama's kitchen, and this week's soup lineup is looking pretty darn delicious!
Our two tried and true favorites, Mama's Boys Baked Potato and Lulu's Love Dumplins, will be here all weekend long.
And we're bringing something BRAND NEW to the menu!

🥒 THE BIG DILL (Vegetarian)
A rich, buttery, velvety soup bursting with chopped and diced dill pickles, sweet onions, roasted garlic, and fresh dill. Finished with just the right splash of pickle brine for that perfectly tangy bite.
We've been making a pretty big dill about this one. And we're not even sorry. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
We're changing things up a little this weekend. Along with The Big Dill and our two weekend regulars, we'll have a different fourth soup every single day!

🥒 IT'S KIND OF A BIG DILL 🥒

This one has a little history behind it because what DOESN'T around here?

Growing up, my older sister and I LOVED dill pickles.
This was long before being obsessed with pickles was apparently a personality trait. 🙄
We would literally WALK 30 MINUTES to a gas station just to buy those giant individual dill pickles in the little pouches.
WHAT CHILD DOES THAT?!
And when the pickles were gone? Oh, we weren't about to waste that precious pickle juice.
My sister taught me how to pour it into ice cube trays and make PICKLE ICE.
Yes. Pickle ice.
I'm sure our mother was absolutely thrilled with us ruining her ice cube trays. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
So when I decided to create a new vegetarian soup inspired by our lifelong love affair with dill pickles, there was really only one person who I could call on to be my first taste tester.

My sister, Anna. 💚
Loud and as obnoxious as ever, right there in the kitchen with me, just like when we were kids, her waiting for me to prepare her something to eat. Lol
We spent hours one afternoon reminiscing, bullying each other, and scream laughing (her cackling) about nothing and everything making this soup come to life because some things never get old. 🥰

This weekend I'm SOUP-ER excited to introduce everyone to:

🥒🌿THE BIG DILL🌿🥒
(Vegetarian)

A rich, buttery, velvety soup bursting with chopped and diced dill pickles, sweet onions, roasted garlic, and fresh dill. Finished with just the right splash of pickle brine for that perfectly tangy bite.

This is not your traditional pickle soup which is basically just creamy potato soup with pickles. There's no potatoes. No chunks of carrots and no cream. Because I've tried those versions annnnnnd hated them.
The Big Dill is the closest thing to what I'd consider a true pickle soup.
Full of nostalgia and a whole lot of homemade pickle goodness.
Because obviously walking a half hour for a friggin pickle wasn't enough.
Eventually all of my favorite memories become soup anyways.
It's just how I love. 🤷🏻‍♀️
Weeeeeell that and a fair amount of sarcasm. It seems to balance out though. 😁
SO WHERE ARE MY PICKLE PEOPLE?! 🙋🏻‍♀️
PLEASE tell me somebody else made pickle ice growing up, because I refuse to believe we were the only two weirdos doing that.

🛑STEP AWAY FROM THE CROCKPOT!
Mama's has this under control.

It's Suuuuuuunday! Your responsibilities today should be minimal. Wear the comfy pants. Ignore the laundry. Come pick up food for the game and call it a productive day.
Definitely start with an iced coffee first, though. Obviously. 🧋
You can cook again tomorrow if you want.
Well, probably? I mean, unless you get enough for leftovers, because then there's no cooking tomorrow either.
Seems like a win, no? 🤷🏻‍♀️

🏈 It's also BEARS vs. PACKERS Sunday!

Now, you need to understand that Mama is a Bears fan and David is unfortunately a Packers fan. (My Dad would've had a FIELD day with that one)
We've still managed to build a marriage, raise a family, and run a business together despite this unfortunate character flaw of his. Clearly love really does conquer all. Even questionable judgment. 🤷🏻‍♀️😂

So, I told David that I need this double burner griddle for the house.
This man had the AUDACITY to tell me I wouldn't use it because I barely ever cook at home.
First of all.

Second of all, it would fit in peeeeeerfectly with all my other beautiful little HexClads.

Third of all, I cook for a living. Shouldn't that qualify me for some sort of kitchen equipment exemption? I mean, honestly.
Now he's requesting an actual LIST of things I'd make on it before he'll entertain the idea.
A LIST.
Sir. I am a professional. I don't need this kind of interrogation in my own home. 🙄
So I'm calling in reinforcements.

I would like everyone to remember this moment the next time someone says owning a small business must be fun.

Yesterday after a very chaotic morning we officially opened the doors for another Soup Season and apparently none of you forgot where we live.

GOOD. LORD. 🥰

After months in the food truck, there was something pretty wonderful about being back in our little shop, seeing familiar faces pull up and hearing all of the “we're so excited!"
So after one whole day back in the shop and a tiny amount of sleep we have completed our official Opening Weekend assessment:
✔️ You missed the soup.
✔️ You missed the bread.
✔️ You missed the Hot Cocoa and C***r
✔️ Some of you have absolutely no self-control.
We respect that.
And because we apparently learned nothing from yesterday

WE’RE BACK AT IT TODAY. 🍲

The soup pots are full.
The bread and sliders are baking.
I have frosted all the Baby Cakes.
The caffeine is doing some VERY heavy lifting.
And I have located most of the things David misplaced yesterday. 😁
