Hey, Dallas cowgirls and cowboys, I'll be descending on your fair city tomorrow ahead of an appearance at the Hay Festival on Friday night. Suffering Jukebox is a symposium on the work of the late great David Berman; I'll be joined by my friend and fellow Louisvillian Ryan Davis, as well as Cassandra Jenkins, Lee Ranaldo, and Jacob Rubin. Suffering Jukebox is being sponsored by Southwest Review, which has just published in its fall music issue an interview I did with David in 2003, plus a new essay I wrote about our friendship and impact on one another's poetry. We'll have copies for sale at Surface Noise upon my return. In the meantime, come see me on Friday at The Wild Detectives if you're in a Texas state of mind.

Hey, everybody, I know I just posted a bunch of stuff and y'all are all aesthetically tumescent, but I'm about to bug out to Dallas and won't be back behind the desk until 10/22-23. Of course, we'll be open regular business hours in my absence, but I'm afraid I won't be able to fill any mail orders until my return. I also won't be buying records until next week though I would be happy for you to bring me some killer s**t to r***e through on 10/22-23. I'm gonna hold off on buying books for a little while yet as I am culling my own library (my records, too) and simply don't have the space right now for any textual surplus. "Suyun Son: Land I Carry" remains on display in our Darby Forever Gallery, and the beat will damn sure be going on whether I or one of my charges greets you when you enter our realm--only at Surface Noise!
