Colombia’s economy grew 5.9% in the last year with the nation’s GDP expected to expand by 4.7% in 2012, according to the WSJ. The WSJ argued the recent economic growth was due to Colombia’s improving security situation and its ability to attract foreign investment. ''

202 years ago today, a riot in the city of Bogotá began and eventually led to the declaration of independence from Spain. Colombia was the first constitutional government in South America!

We are a 'young' nation, but we've done amazing things with our territory and our beautiful people in this short time. This is a great day!

Its nice to know that René Redzepi's Noma (best restaurant in the world) is creating a dish inspired by a very Colombian ingredient that we've enjoyed for hundreds of years as a snack.

No yogurt though. We fry them, add some salt and enjoy as a snack. Pretty weird yes, but tasty.
