Ayara Thai continues the tradition of crafting delicious home-cooked food for those dining out. Since Ayara Thai’s opening day, head chef Anna has used home-grown herbs in the restaurant’s dishes. Reflecting both the dishes she ate in the past, as well as her family’s values in sustainable dining, she ensures that all dishes are inspired by and prepared with only the freshest ingredients that the

season has to offer. Today, Anna and her husband Andy's family traditions are continued and developed into the third generation, through their daughter Vanda. Living and working in Thailand for four years has allowed Vanda to revive old family recipes, and discover new tastes and inspirations. After cooking with relatives and eating her way through the streets and countryside, it is these old recipes and new flavors that Vanda brings back to share at Ayara Thai.

A wise poet from the 1990s once said, “Every new beginning comes from some other beginning’s end.” It’s with great pride and gratitude that we celebrate 22 years this month and it’s with great excitement and relief 😅 that we share renovation renderings of what’s to come in our next chapter, our new beginning. ⁠

The Westchester Triangle has been our home since August 2004. Our parents owned several restaurants before Ayara and when they opened this one, they decided—win or lose, success or failure—that it would be their last. ⁠

We’ve been working on a new concept! ⁠
⁠
Catering and private cheffing are big parts of our work already but sometimes clients want a sort of hybrid situation where we’re both cooking on site and bringing already cooked dishes from our restaurant. We’re working out the logistics and had the opportunity to test run at the LARC journalism summit earlier this month where we provided lunch for 100+ food writers as an in-kind sponsor. ⁠
⁠
The design is a scoop station, à la Chipotle/Panda Express style, but we are also grilling on site and sometimes using the wok so the food is kitchen-fresh and super quick. From bell to bell, our rush period at this event was 39 minutes and total serving time was 51 when including the folks who trickled in after the crowd. At our peak speed, we were able to serve guests a customized hot delicious bowl in less than 30 seconds. ⁠

8 is a lucky number in Thai and many Southeast Asian cultures. Turned on its side, its an infinity sign. ∞ It symbolizes prosperity, abundance, and good fortune, and we are fortunate that all of these characters apply to Ayara as we move toward our 22nd anniversary (Save the date! We celebrate in August). ⁠

It does not come without hardship and struggles. The restaurant business is not for the weary of heart or the weary on their feet. The weary of keyboard critics and government red tape. The weary of rising costs and shrinking margins. ⁠
⁠
But our story at Ayara Thai is not one of weariness. Our restaurant culture is one of joyfulness, laughter, teamwork and collaboration, excellent hospitality and loyalty, and you bet it’s about fantastic food. ⁠
