All that glitters is not gold,
as I was quickly reminded of during my latest experience at Ladurée Beverly Hills.
✨✨✨
A traditionally lovely affair, this visit was littered with uncleanliness from the state of the bathroom, mounds of dust on their displays to the unfortunate state of the teapot.
After perusing the menu, I chose to order madeleine cookies and their Marie Antoinette tea (an absolute favorite of mine - Black tea with hints of rose and honey). I’ve typically purchased macarons and tea to go, so I can’t say that my experience was a common occurrence however I still feel it’s important to mention.
As pictured, the biggest disappointment was the caked-on tea residue in both teapot spouts. This is not something that happens after one unwashed use or even two, this is clearly the result of weeks of neglect. In an effort not to cause a fuss in front of my group, I quietly let my friend who also ordered tea know of the state of both of our teapots. We left shortly after another member of my party discovered another dirty utensil and the server made a fuss about splitting the bill 3 ways. I understand splitting takes some extra time, however it wasn’t busy, we were a party of 5, and we ordered less than 10 items total, I felt the pushback was unnecessary and was the cherry on top of a not-so-great experience.
While we could’ve spent a little more time catching up, and ordering a few desserts to go, we were a bit put off.
It’s unfortunate because I’ve enjoyed their macarons and croissants, but I’ll stick to exploring local bakeries and purchasing Marie Antoinette Tea from Nina’s Paris in the future.
