Hidden in the coalfields of West Virginia, Morrison’s Drive Inn has been a favorite local hangout since 1947! You pull your car into a spot and flash your lights for curb service, or head inside to grab a booth in the retro dining room. The star here is the West Virginia-style hot dog...a steamed bun loaded with a wiener, yellow mustard, onions, and a heap of sweet, creamy coleslaw on top of savory chili. The dogs are messy, soft, and addictive, usually ordered two or three at a time. The onion rings are battered fresh and fried golden, and a cold milkshake is the best way to wash it all down. Prices are incredibly cheap, the service is quick, and the nostalgia is heavy. It’s a simple, honest meal that tastes like a Friday night in the mountains.
