Coming this Friday - Coffee Shop's New Fall Menu + New Pastries from Texas French Bread!

Beyond that - this month is jam packed with fun community events and we want to invite YOU to join us! Here's what we have up our sleeve:

First Friday we REALLY want you to try our new desserts at the Cantina. So we will be sending out surprise & delights all night! Also come try our new guacamole... it's "peak".

October 9th - Open Mic Night
We are proud to offer this space for local creatives to share what they've been working on. Hosted by Chazz Bassette, Tam Francis & Kellie Salome. Every Second Friday. Sign ups at 7:30pm, show at 8pm.

October 17th - LIT Fest
Lockhart's first ever book festival! Hosted by the incredible team at Hello Lockhart, this will be one "for the books"! Live author signings, story time, book shop pop ups, and many participating businesses. We will have our own literary themeed cocktail, inspired by Lonesome Dove - The Gus & Call. Mezcal base with the taste of the desert after rain. And the coffee shop will feature a Don Quixote style coffee - a mocha rich with cinnamon and Mexican spices. October 19th - Special Monday Showcase - Calvin Love
Join us for a special evening of music with touring musician, Calvin Love.
Calvin Love is a Canadian singer-songwriter whose music lingers in the shadows of nostalgia and noir. With a signature croon and a sound that fuses psych-folk, cinematic longing, and romanticism, he’s built a world both vintage and strangely timeless. The press has called his work “a crestfallen soundtrack of near-escape… like Chris Isaak trapped in a David Lynch film.”
Suggested $10 door to go directly towards Calvin as he continues his tour!

October 21st - Trivia Night
Last month the cantina was literally PACKED with teams eager to compete in the best trivia in Caldwell (or maybe the only?). Join us every Third Wednesday with your host Mike Lewis & Geeks Who Drink. There are prizes, surprise tastings, and really damn good times. Games begin at 7pm! Get there early with your crew to claim your spot!

October 24th - Comedy Night
We are trying something new! Comedy! We are stoked to welcome award winning comedians: JJ Alexander, Mason Bird & Chris Silo. $20 tickets. Show begins at 8pm!

Monday October 26th - The Broom Ride
Lastly, the event we eager anticipate for the past EIGHT years - The Broom Ride. Join us on the patio at 7pm because at 7:30pm we FLY. Come dressed in your witches best - bring the family! - and any noise makers! We gather, then we fly around the square three times before rounding back at Chaparral for Hot Cocoa for the children and Hot Toddies for the adults - and chili for all!

Let's talk about this again, the importance of CSA (Community Supported Agriculture):

What Is a CSA?
CSA stands for Community Supported Agriculture. It was originally created in the 1980s as a way for small farmers to skip the middle men and not have to rely solely on farmer's markets to sell their crops. The Central Texas Farmer's Coop is a non-profit that pulls together crops from several local farms and connects them directly with customers. Starting at $30 a week (or every other week!), you can essentially have a local produce subscription box.

Why a CSA?
CSAs skip the middle men, they require less work than Farmer's Markets and they are consistent. CSAs are essential for small farmers and we are so proud to support our farms in this way. Make no mistake, when you subscribe to a CSA program, it is absolutely a form of activism for our community and our earth.

So What's the Deal? How Do I Sign Up? What Do I Do?
All great questions! Visit centraltexasfarmers.com and select your CSA basket - choose from an individual basket, a family sized basket, and add on some meat boxes. Choose your payment plan. And set a reminder to pick up your CSA shares every Wednesday afternoon at Chaparral Cantina from 4pm-9pm beginning October 7th.

Concerned about having too much produce?
Listen, I get it. It takes living with intention to consume local produce on a weekly basis. So, how about this, reach out to a friend or neighbor and split the weeks together. Set a reminder in your calendar on which week is yours to pick up. Supporting your local farmers isn't a task done alone, it takes community and that's why I'm messaging you in the first place!

What about the meat shares? How much meat is included? What's the scoop?
Each meat share - the beef, pork or chicken shares, contain different cuts of meat and will equal out to the amount of the share which starts at $75 a month. So it'll be around 3-7lbs of meat but you'll see things like high end steak cuts, ground beef, whole chickens or chicken cuts, etc. This way of eating encourages us to all learn how to eat the whole animal. Which is a vital competent to keeping our ranchers thriving.

During the final weekend of Hispanic Heritage Month, Entre Dos Cielos—or Between Two Skies—will make its world premiere right here in Lockhart.

This original, 75-minute, all-ages production brings Texas and Mexico together through contemporary circus, dance, physical storytelling, and live music. It explores the stories, traditions, memories, and connections we carry between cultures—and what it means to belong to more than one place.

Created by Austin-based Cirque Vida and co-produced by the 78644 Podcast, Entre Dos Cielos was developed during an international artistic residency at Centro Cultural Teopanzolco in Cuernavaca, Mexico. Now, after beginning its journey in Mexico, the production is coming home to Texas for its world premiere.

Led by Cirque Vida founder and artistic director Xochitl Sosa, the production features choreography and co-direction by acclaimed Mexican choreographer Edgar Zendejas, along with an international ensemble of artists from Mexico, Canada, and the United States.

Lockhart-based band Deadman will perform its original score live, creating a powerful musical landscape for the movement and storytelling onstage. Students from Lockhart High School Mariachi Corazón de Leon will also join the professional artists during special moments in the performance, making this international production deeply connected to the Lockhart community.

This is more than a circus performance. It is a celebration of culture, creativity, collaboration, and the ties that connect Texas and Mexico. Through breathtaking movement, aerial artistry, dance, and live music, Entre Dos Cielos invites audiences to experience a story that is both deeply personal and beautifully universal.

And it is happening for one weekend only.

A few months ago we got a message request from an unknown musician who had found us via social media. They were booking a tour through Texas, had heard of Lockhart and wondered if we'd host them. These country sweet hearts would be a great fit for our little city.

June's First Friday is THIS Week!

We are excited to welcome visitors from all over to explore our lively Lockhart downtown square - art gallery openings, unique shopping, tasty bites and treasures along the way!

We are partnering with Chef Mike Torres of Gold Epicure to offer Fish Tacos off the grill and fresh Ceviche. Our margaritas will be flowing from inside and on the patio and beginning at 9PM DJ Johnny Ray will be spinning tunes - perfect for that evening cocktail as you recap all your adventures.

We just had to share!

Hey neighbor,

You probably know us as the local coffee shop - the one that's been serving Lockhart for a decade. That's us. Thanks for being a part of what we've built here.

But we wanted to let you in on something that's been quietly growing next door...

Chaparral Cantina has been catering. And honestly... It's taken off faster than we expected. And we are obsessed.

In the last few months we've fed film crews on set, catered a two-day board meeting for a tech company, delivered weekly boxed lunches to a local office, and hosted a private reception with a fully custom menu by our chef, Mike Torres.

All of it out of our little kitchen on East Market Street. All of it made with the same care we put into your morning coffee.

Whether you've got a team to feed, an event to plan, or a celebration coming up - we'd love to be your first call. Taco bars, smoked proteins, bar services, private chef dinners, weekly corporate lunches. We do it all.

We'll be sharing more over the next few weeks - including some specific packages, pricing, and what a real event with us actually looks like. Stay tuned.
