Here's an idea to help your hens deal with some of the summer heat. Take a pan that's maybe 3 inches deep, and set that out with 2" of water in it. It needs to be larger, at least 12"x20". My hens love to just stand in the water for a few minutes and cool their feet. Now don't take a pan from your wife's kitchen! I took a plastic tote that cow licks come in & cut it down to 3-4" tall. The water does get dirty and needs to be changed every day or two. But the girls say it's worth it!

Spring is definitely here and everyone is getting new chicks. Remember that everything likes to eat chicken, so protect your girls with a Pullet-Shut Automatic Chicken Door! And don't forget that predator can either dig under a fence or fly in above (owls).
