At Sweet 220, we believe that everyone deserves access to food. ❤️

Our Free Food Pantry is here for anyone in our community who needs it - no questions asked. If you or someone you know is in need, you're always welcome to stop by and take whatever you need, whenever you need it.

We're also now accepting non-perishable food donations and monetary donations, which will go directly toward purchasing items to keep our pantry stocked.

Donations can be dropped off at the bakery or sent via Zelle - Sweet 220 LLC or 313-673-3922.

Each week, we also set aside a portion of our own funds to shop for pantry essentials because caring for our community is something that's close to our hearts.

Every donation, big or small, helps us make sure our neighbors have access to food when they need it most.

Today is a little different than our usual bakery post.

Time is the biggest thief.

It feels like just yesterday we were walking our little boy into preschool, his tiny hand wrapped around ours, a backpack almost bigger than he was.

And somehow… today, we're watching Gabriel walk into high school.

As parents, you spend so much time worrying about raising them right, protecting them, teaching them, and preparing them for the world that you don't realize just how quickly the years are disappearing.

Then one day you look up, and that little boy isn't so little anymore.

The bakery has grown alongside him. So many of you have watched Gabriel grow up here—from the little kid running around Sweet 220, to helping Mom and Dad, giving back through Gabriel's Cakes for Cause, and now beginning an entirely new chapter.

We're beyond proud of the young man he's becoming. But if we could ask time for just one thing, it would be to slow down a little.

Because nobody warns you that while you're raising your son, you're also saying goodbye to every little version of him along the way.

Time is the biggest thief. It takes our little boys and, right before our eyes, turns them into young men.

Here's to your first year of high school, Gabriel. ❤️
Keep your faith. Stay humble. Be kind. Work hard. And never forget where you came from.

As the buses pull away and the field trip comes to an end, every child gets to take home a little trinket.

To most, it's just a small toy.

To us, it's a memory.

These are the moments we cherish most at our little mom-and-pop bakery. The laughter, the excitement, the hugs, the high-fives, and watching children leave with smiles that reach from ear to ear.

The cupcakes are wonderful, but it's these moments that fill our hearts the most. If we can make a child smile, even for just a few minutes, then we've done something truly special.

Sweet 220 Bakery proudly welcomes school classes, daycare groups, summer camps, scout troops, church groups, mosque groups, youth organizations, homeschool groups, and children's field trips. Our doors—and our hearts—are open to every child and every family. We'd be honored to host your group for a fun, memorable experience filled with treats, laughter, and a few life lessons along the way.

Respect. Kindness. Have fun.

That is why Free Dozen Friday exists.

In a world that often tells us to judge one another before we know one another, we choose something different.

This little bakery is our village.

These are the values that raised us. The values our parents and grandparents passed down long before there was social media, headlines, or opinions from people who have never shared a meal with us.

To welcome the stranger. To feed the hungry. To honor your elders. To love your neighbor. To give without expecting anything in return. To leave people better than you found them.

Our culture. Our faith. Our family taught us that a person's character is revealed by how they treat others—not by where they come from, what they look like, or what they believe.

So if you've ever wondered who we are...

Don't let someone else tell our story.

Watch how we treat people. Watch how we love our community. Watch these children.

Because this... this is who we are.

And if these kids leave Sweet 220 remembering "Be Kind. Be Respectful. Have Fun," then today was a success.

The cupcakes will disappear.

But character... that's something worth passing on for generations. 💜🧁

They thought today's lesson was about cupcakes.

It wasn't.

Before anyone enjoyed a single bite, I asked all the kids, "What did we learn today?"

"Cupcakes!" they yelled.

I smiled and said, "No... tell me something that has nothing to do with baking."

One by one, the answers came...

Respect.
Kindness.
Have fun.

As parents, grandparents, teachers, coaches, business owners, and neighbors, we're all helping shape the next generation. Our children are growing up in a world that moves fast, often rewards negativity, and constantly tells them who they should be.

Let's remind them of something different.

Teach them to respect others, even when they disagree.
Teach them to choose kindness when no one is watching.
Teach them to laugh, play, and enjoy being kids while they still can.

If a bakery can take just a few minutes to plant those seeds, imagine what we could accomplish if we all did the same.

The cupcakes will be gone by the end of the day.

But with God's grace, the lessons can stay with them for a lifetime. 💜🧁
