Happy Friday!
It is official! I am excited to share that today I closed on The Barn property. Now that the deal is done I am happy to share some of the plans with you.
Please keep in mind these are “plans” … nothing is set in stone, but this is what I see happening over the next 6-8 months.
Hope to meet with the town next week to go over some of the final plans for Simmons. We are looking to make the best use of the interior, have 2 new bathrooms, expand the seating area and completely redo the kitchen and roof! The entire building has been gutted, so now we can get working on the rebuild.
During this meeting we will also be discussing how the two porpteries can be used more effectively for our customers; create nice walkways, a beautiful boardwalk along the wetlands, places for artists to show their work during the summer months, parking etc.
Simmons will continue to be a General Store and Cafe, focusing on Breakfast and Lunch. We will be supporting local farms that practice humane, sustainable and compassionate farming methods and will be producing the majority of our menu items in-house. Our menu will have a great variety of GF, DF, vegan and vegetarian items. We will NOT be a nut-free facility.
The Barn will be transformed into a locally driven dinner spot; menu is still being developed but the focus will be on coastal favorites from around the world. If you have any favorites from a coastal hometown or vacation spot, please let me know!
My hope is to create a wonderful destination space on the corner of Crandall and Main; breakfast, lunch, dinner, gatherings, art, music.
I am grateful to the Wordell and Madden families for entrusting me with the next chapter for The Barn. And to the local community, thank you for your patience.
NB: I have NO PLANS to evict the Post Office or tear down their little building! Stop the rumors! : )
