Some catering events are celebrations. Others touch your heart in a completely different way. ❤️

Today, we had the honor of providing the meal as family and friends gathered to celebrate the life of Kathy Dix, who passed away unexpectedly last week.

This one was especially personal for me.

I grew up with all three of Kathy’s kids and many other family members spent countless hours at their farm. From 4-H and school to all those everyday childhood moments in between, the Dix family was simply always there. When I think back on growing up, they are woven into so many of those memories.

You never really think about how special those ordinary days are while you’re living them. Years later, you realize those people, those places, and those memories helped make you who you are.

So when we were asked to cater today, it meant more than simply preparing and serving a meal. It was an opportunity to take care of a family that has been part of my life for so many years during a time when they are facing an unimaginable and unexpected loss.

That is something I will never take for granted.

Food has always had a way of bringing people together—around a table to share stories, laughter, tears, hugs, and memories. Today was a beautiful reminder that what we do at Tin Roof Hideaway & Event Center can sometimes be about so much more than food.

To Kathy’s family, thank you for trusting us with this small part of such an important day. It was truly an honor to serve all of you and to help honor Kathy’s life.

Our hearts are with the entire Dix/Pisarik family and everyone who loved Kathy. ❤️

Rest peacefully, Kathy. You will be missed by so many.

Your couch doesn't serve wings.

Your refrigerator doesn't bring you another cold drink.

And yelling at the TV is WAY more fun when everyone else is doing it too. 😂🏈

Football nights are better at Tin Roof.

Bring your crew. Grab some food. Order a cold one. Pick a team and stay awhile.
