Happy Cat-urday! We’re here with some fun physical location updates!

We met with the team for the space (property manager, landlord, architect, and contractor) this past week to go over our floor plan. Some slight tweaks were made in order to accommodate some equipment (ice machine, reverse osmosis unit, in-house laundry, etc.), but other than that, this is what our bare bones will be looking like!

They estimate construction only taking about 90 days (🤞), but waiting on permits will most likely take us to about the 5 month mark!

That means Stray By The Bay should be open by the end of this year! If for some reason we hit some unforeseeable delays, we might push the opening to the New Year but for now fingers crossed for 2026!

We’ll keep you guys updated on our progress. As soon as we know anything more, we’ll post it to our socials so make sure you’re following us to stay up to date!

Meet the Frozen Sweet Treat Kittens: Popsicle edition!

Popsicle is the little baby of the litter and one of two medium haired calicos! She’s named after one of the best frozen treats to have on a hot summer day!

This little lady started off quite shy and spent much of her time perched up on one of our laps. Now she’s wrestling with all of her siblings, running laps around the room, and eating as much wet food as her little belly will allow for! She still loves some pets, but good luck catching her because she’s too busy exploring and learning about everything!

Fun fact: Popsicle made me cry her first night because her face is just too cute for my brain to comprehend 🥺

Popsicle will be available for adoption with her siblings in a few weeks time once she’s of weight! Keep an eye on our page for an update on when they’ll be heading back to Beatrice Humane Society for their surgeries!

Meet the Frozen Sweet Treat Kittens: Ice Cream edition!

Ice Cream is the fearless leader of our group and she’s the only short haired kitty of the litter! She’s named after probably the most iconic creamy frozen sweet treat out there!

She’s definitely the “older sibling” of the kittens and not just because she weighs the most! Ice Cream has this calm and polite presence to her that can melt your heart! While she will tussle with the rest of the group, she’s definitely a lap cat at her core. Ice Cream loves a head to toe pet, standing at the top of the cat tree and giving the most ridiculous meow until you come over to give said pet, snuggling with her brother Water Ice (other black and white kitten), and she’s also fascinated with the mirror in our foster room. Not only does she talk to her reflection, but she’ll also talk to you through the reflection!

Ice Cream will be available along with her siblings for adoption through Beatrice Humane Society in a few weeks time. If you’re interested in adding this sweet little lady to your family, be sure to keep an eye on our page and the available kitten page on the BHS website!

Hello friends! We have a quick update for you about things here at Stray By The Bay!

We’ve gotten several interest checks into jobs, volunteering, etc. at the cafe so we figured we would make a post about it. Our inboxes across all social media, email, square messaging, and even our comment sections are full of people asking when we’re hiring or if they can have a job once we’re open.

Short answer: not at this moment!

Long answer: we still have several months of planning, construction, and figuring everything out before we’re open. If I hired everyone today, there’s a chance work wouldn’t start for another few months. While you might think you’d like to have your foot in the door now, I’d hate to
1.) make you wait forever to start work and get paid
2.) have you pass up other opportunities
3.) find something else you love and not be able to join us in the long term

While some people might be fine with waiting, we would just not feel right about it which is why we’re waiting. If we’re being honest, we don’t even know how many people we will need to hire at the moment!

All that being said, at the moment we will not be able to answer any emails, messages, or comments about job opportunities BUT we will be making an announcement on how and when you can apply once we’re ready!

We thank you for all your interest and understanding in the meantime! 🐱☕️

Meet the Frozen Sweet Treat Kittens: Frozen Dairy Dessert edition!

Lil Frozen Dairy is one of the 4 girls and is the medium haired calico with darker markings on her face. Frozen Dairy Dessert is named after the kind of ice cream you find at the store that full of all kinds of goodies, but not enough milk fat to legally be called ice cream. Did we pick her to carry the name Frozen Dairy Dessert because she looks the silliest? Absolutely 🙂‍↕️

It can’t be denied that Frozen Dairy Dessert is a very pretty cat to look at, but she’s also so aloof and goofy! The first time I saw her pulled out of the carrier at BHS she looked bedraggled and I knew she was going to be FDD!

She’s always down to play with crinkle balls, springs, and wand toys, but she also loves to snuggle in the crook of your knee while you’re sitting criss cross applesauce. FDD also stares off like she’s reliving the war sometimes, but I think that just add to her charm and appeal 😻

Frozen Dairy Dessert will be available through Beatrice Humane Society in a few weeks time. She just needs a bit more time to pack on the pounds! Meet the Frozen Sweet Treat Kittens: Gelato edition!

Gelato is one of 4 girls in the litter and named after the Italian frozen dessert! Did you know Gelato has less butterfat and air than regular ice cream making it a denser and smoother treat?

Gelato is a medium haired tortoiseshell and equal parts play and snuggles! She’s one of the first kittens to run up to you when entering the foster room and loves to play with all kinds of toys, but especially with her brother Water Ice (medium haired black and white)! These two love chasing each other all over the room, through the tunnel, and up the tree! Where Gelato is, Water Ice isn’t far behind!

Once she’s gotten her fill playing, she loves to lay in your lap or meet you up on the cat tree to get extra close snuggles in. Her purr is loud and never ending!

She will be available for adoption through the Beatrice Humane Society in the next few weeks so be sure to keep an eye on our page and their website if you’re interested in adding this beautiful girl to your family!

Meet the Frozen Sweet Treat Kittens Water Ice edition!

Water Ice is the only boy in the Frozen Sweet Treat litter and named after one of our favorite Philadelphia/New Jersey specialties. It’s somewhere in the middle of a sorbet and a snow cone and oh so delicious!

This little boy is a sweet black and white medium hair with a spunky personality! The moment you look at home he starts purring and he manages to always have the perfect little head tilt 🥺

Water Ice loves his food, especially canned and is usually playing with Gelato (the tortie) until he’s tuckered out and needs a little nap at the top of the cat tree with his sister Ice Cream (the short haired black and white). He will be available for adoption through Beatrice Humane Society in a few weeks time so make sure to keep and eye on our page and their website if you’re interest in adding this sweet boy to your family!
