The only word that comes to mind is unbelievable. This weekend we were at one of our favorite competitions New Jersey State Barbecue Championship. For the past 3 years we have always thrown our hat in the ring to try and see how we do against the masters teams. Although in the past years we have done okay, this year was our year. We ended up placing 2nd overall out of 63 teams for our first Reserve Grand Champion! Although it was a hot one, we beat the heat and pushed through. Our final standings were

1st place-chicken 🏆
10th place-ribs 🏆
16th place-pork
12th place- brisket

14th place -sauce
8th place-burger🏆
9th place-dessert🏆

We also had the honor to win 4th place for the US Soy award!

This was an all around amazing weekend and can’t wait to get back to cooking. Our next competition will be Red White and Q in October. Congrats to pig candy for the GC! What a weekend!! We have always loved the New Jersey State Barbecue Championship even before we got to compete. Today was a huge day for us! Here’s the results!

Ancillaries
2nd place sauce!!!
10th place dessert!! (Huge for us)
32nd in burgers (ouch)

Sunday!! The big day!
4th place chicken!!!!!!!!
24th ribs
41th brisket
37th pork

We ended up 23 over all out of 62 teams!! We had so much fun and cannot wait to comeback next year! Congrats to everyone that heard their name called and congrats to Chunky BBQ on their Grand Champ and Uncle Pigs Bbq Pit for their reserve GC!
