Elliot Page has shared that he hopes his new documentary will help LGBTQ+ kids feel less alone by telling a story that has often been ignored
The film titled Second Nature is directed by Drew Denny and follows scientists who have studied more than 1500 animal species. Their research shows that same s*x relationships parenting and gender diversity exist widely in the natural world
Page is both a co producer and the narrator of the project bringing his voice to a topic that challenges long held assumptions
Speaking about the documentary he explained that it offers a deeper look into facts that many people were never taught growing up
He reflected on his own experience saying that many q***r children grow up feeling isolated and burdened by shame especially when their identities are not represented or are erased from conversations
He also highlighted that the idea of nature being built only around one traditional model is simply not accurate
One of the most powerful moments in the film comes from scientist Joan Roughgarden who describes that belief as nothing more than a small outdated myth
