After a very busy weekend in Libertyville our espresso machine decided it wasn’t up to the task this morning. Our technician Jimmy Franks got our backup La Marzocco off the test bench and into cafe this afternoon. What an absolutely surreal thing to say. Hansa is 10 years old. We opened our doors on a Thursday October 3, 2013. We had no idea what the reception would be. All we knew was we had a passion to tell the story of specialty coffee, the places where it was grown, and the new an exciting things we could make it do with some care and a touch of artistry.

Some of the best moments about Hansa for me have been simple things like walking down the street and seeing a family walking with a cups of our coffee. On more than one ocassion, small talk between customers in the cafe turned to dates that turned into marriages that turned into small humans. It has been an absolute honor to serve you all over these last 10 years. Because of you we got to live our coffee dream. We have some exciting things in the works and can’t wait to see what the next decade brings.
