Well…hey. 👋🤍

After all the planning, prepping, painting, building, cleaning, cooking and “are we actually going to get all of this done in time?” moments…Saturday finally happened. 🥂

And it was pretty special.

Our chefs got to cook for you.
Our team got to welcome you into the space we call home.
Friends, family, clients and members of our community walked through the doors to eat, drink, visit and celebrate with us.

And somewhere between the fried pickles, crispy polenta, cocktails, conversations and a fire pit at the end of the night, we finally got to celebrate 10+ years of La Bonne Vie.

To everyone who stopped in, shared a kind word, raised a glass, brought someone along or has supported this little business somewhere along the way:

Okay, now we’re officially getting excited. 👀🥂

If you’ve been to La Bonne Vie before, you may think you already know what you’re walking into tomorrow.

You don’t. 😉

We’ve been painting. Building. Scrubbing. Rearranging. Refreshing. And generally making the entire team question why we apparently decided an Open House was also the perfect time for a mini makeover. 😂

There are a few changes we’re very tempted to show you...

But we’re not going to.

Because tomorrow, we want you to walk through the doors and see them for yourself.

And while we’ve been busy getting the kitchen ready, our chefs have been working on their part too. 👀

Hot fried pickles. Crispy polenta. Braised beef. Savory bites. Fall sweets. Drinks at the bar. A few surprises we’re still keeping to ourselves.

Tomorrow isn’t a formal party.

It’s us opening the doors and saying:

Our new favorite employee. 👻🛼😂

He roller skates.

He contributes absolutely nothing to food prep.

And somehow, we’re all obsessed with him.

He’s currently getting the LBV kitchen ready for spooky season — and apparently he’ll also be here to greet you for our Open House this Saturday. Whether he’ll actually be helpful remains to be seen. 👀

Okay, Lexington…we’ve kept the menu under wraps long enough. 👀

This Saturday, the LBV kitchen is opening its doors — and our chefs are planning a few things that might make it worth coming hungry. 😂

Chef Jessica Faulhaber will be serving up hot Fried Pickles with Pimento Cheese + Smoky Dairy-Free Remoulade at one of our interactive chef stations.

And remember Friday when apparently everyone was Team Braised Beef? 👀

Well...Chef Gaby was paying attention.
Her Crispy Polenta Station will feature that rich Braised Beef you all chose — plus a vegetarian option for anyone who’d rather go meatless.

And we’re still not telling you exactly what else is going on top. 😉 You’ll have to come see how she finishes them.

And that’s only the beginning.

There will be savory bites tucked throughout the kitchen, a few sweets we’re particularly excited about, drinks flowing from the bar, and our chefs doing what they do best.

Some meals don’t need much of an introduction. 👀

Fried chicken.
Creamy mashed potatoes.
Braised collard greens.
Soup beans.

And because one plate apparently wasn’t quite comforting enough...cornbread made an appearance too. 😂

This is the kind of food that makes you walk through the kitchen, stop, and immediately ask:
“Okay...who is THAT for?”

Warm, hearty, familiar and exactly the kind of meal that starts sounding better the second the weather cools down. 🍂

Fall has officially arrived in the LBV kitchen. 🍂🤍

This weekend, Chef Jessica Faulhaber welcomed guests into the kitchen for Welcoming Fall in Appalachia — an afternoon inspired by the flavors, traditions and stories that make this season in our part of the country so special.

For Jessica, Appalachian cooking has always been about more than what’s on the plate. It’s tied to family, tradition and the kind of food that brings people together around the table.

And that’s exactly the feeling she brought into Saturday’s class.

A little cooking. A little storytelling. Plenty of tips and techniques along the way. And, of course, some really good food. 🤍

There’s just something about cooking this time of year that feels different.

LEXINGTON, YOU’RE INVITED. 🥂 And now we can finally tell you a little more about what we’re cooking...

Our 10-Year Celebration + Open House is coming up, and if you needed another reason to stop by, we have two words for you:

Fried. Pickles. 👀

But these aren’t exactly your average fried pickles.

Chef Jessica Faulhaber will be behind one of our interactive chef stations, serving them hot with pimento cheese + smoky dairy-free remoulade — and that’s only one of the stations we’re planning.

Right next to her, Chef Gaby will be cooking up another little something involving crispy polenta and some very LBV-worthy toppings. We’re keeping a few details to ourselves for now. 😉

Around the room, you’ll find plenty more to taste, including Deviled Eggs, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Spicy Shrimp Cucumber Bites, Antipasto Skewers and a few sweet bites we’ve been working on.

In other words...
