Around the Block Catering takes Joy in preparing & serving smoked meats with homemade sides and desserts for delivery or dine-in at the District 22 Event Center for private family & business events located near Lexington & Cozad, Nebraska. We are located at the District 22 Event Center, a renovated country schoolhouse, 4 miles northwest of Lexington, Nebraska. We have a full service kitchen with a smoker that can cater any event– business meeting, club or church gathering, wedding reception or rehearsal dinner, quinceañera, or family celebration– bar service, sound system,wifi, cable, overhead projector and screen are also available. District 22 Event Center can accommodate 200 guests while seating 125 comfortably. Whether dining-in or delivery to your destination, we are here to serve you and your guests.>.

Celebrating Hard Work, one Sack Lunch at a time!
Finished silage harvest last week with these three lunches:
1. Cheesesteak, Steak Fries & French Onion Dip, Bacon Pea Salad and Chocolate Chip Cookie. 2. Brisket BBQ Horsey Wrap, Macaroni Salad, Watermelon/Grapes, and Peanut Butter Oatmeal Bar. 3. Ham & Cheese Croissandwich, Italian Pasta, Chips, Fresh Cucumber Pickles, and a random cookie.

🌞 Daily sack lunches are here to fuel the Silage Harvest journey! Day one kicked off with a hearty brisket sandwich (no photo). Day two brought a flavorful pork loin sandwich with pickled red onions, baked apple slices, and coleslaw, paired with a sweet gingersnap cookie. Today, we served a meatloaf sandwich, creamy mac 'n cheese, Mexican street corn, and a decadent chocolaty chocolate chip cookie. A reminder to stay vigilant around farm equipment! 💪

Last Friday evening, we served our “1950s Diner” meal for the RareJul Golf Fundraiser. Looking through some of my old church cookbooks helped us put together a true diner-style special:

🍽️ Meatloaf, Mashed Potatoes & Gravy
🥗 Green Beans & Frosted Jello Salad
🥬 Stuffed Pimento Cheese Celery Sticks

For dessert, the Soda Jerks created "floats" with Pineapple Upside Down Cake or Chocolate Pudding Cake, ice cream, whipped topping, and a cherry. 🍨

And, of course, no 1950s diner would be complete without some music from the King! 👑🎤 Elvis was in the building singing “Heartbreak Hotel.”

May was a beautiful whirlwind of flavor, celebration, and community. From packing hearty fuel for farmers in the fields to honoring new graduates, proud alumni, retiring professionals, and dedicated volunteers. We were deeply privileged to serve a lovely wedding feast and to carefully prepare a comforting spread that honored a beautiful life well-lived. This puts a "wrap" on our month of May!

We’ve recently had the honor of catering fundraising galas in Elwood, Brady, and Arapahoe. While every event had its own unique theme and menu, one thing remained exactly the same: a deep love for their hometowns.
It’s inspiring to see adults leading the way and watching the students step up to plate, serve, and help out. They aren't just volunteering; they’re learning to be the next generation of community leaders.
