Happy Mexican Independence Day!🇲🇽

Today marks one of the most important dates in Mexican history.

On September 16, 1810, Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla issued the Grito de Dolores, the call that helped ignite Mexico’s fight for independence from Spanish rule.

And despite a common misconception, Cinco de Mayo isn’t Mexico’s Independence Day. September 16 is the day that commemorates the beginning of Mexico’s independence movement.🇲🇽

For us, it’s a great opportunity to recognize and celebrate the history, culture, and traditions behind the food we’re proud to share every day.

You usually hear fajitas before you see them. 🔥

And here’s a little fajita history: the name comes from the Spanish word “faja,” meaning “belt” or “strip,” referring to the strips of meat traditionally used for the dish.
