Dear Coffee Lover,
This week, Ethiopians around the world celebrate Fasika β Ethiopian Easter β one of the most sacred and joyful holidays in the Ethiopian Orthodox calendar. After 55 days of fasting, families gather to break their fast together, filling homes with the aroma of fresh injera, roasted lamb, and the rich, unmistakable scent of freshly roasted coffee.
At the heart of every Fasika celebration is the Ethiopian coffee ceremony β a ritual as old as coffee itself. Green beans are washed and roasted over an open flame, then ground by hand and brewed slowly in a clay jebena pot. The coffee is poured three times β Abol, Tona, and Baraka β each cup representing a blessing: the first for the body, the second for the mind, and the third for the spirit. It is not just coffee. It is community. It is gratitude. It is home.
For our founder Daniel, Fasika is a deeply personal celebration. His family carries the name Theodros β a name tied to the legacy of Emperor Tewodros II, one of Ethiopia's most revered leaders β and it was only fitting that his roastery carry that name too. Theo's Roast was built to bring that spirit to your cup: the tradition, the craft, and the warmth of Ethiopian coffee culture, one roast at a time.
To honor Fasika, we're offering 15% off our Single Origin Ethiopian Coffee this week only.
These beans are sourced directly from the highlands of Ethiopia β the very birthplace of coffee β and roasted to bring out the bright, floral, and fruity notes that make Ethiopian coffee unlike anything else in the world.
