🌭 THIS WEST VIRGINIA ROADSIDE STOP SERVES GIANT HOT DOGS INSIDE OLD SCHOOL BUSES AND EVEN HAS ITS OWN WEDDING CHAPEL!
If unusual roadside restaurants are your thing, Hillbilly Hot Dogs in Lesage, West Virginia deserves a spot on your list. Since opening in 1999, the quirky restaurant has become known for old school buses, license plates, handmade signs and an enormous collection of unusual decorations.
The menu is just as memorable as the setting. Its famous Homewrecker is a 15-inch, one-pound hot dog piled with about two pounds of toppings, including chili sauce, coleslaw, nacho cheese, jalapeños, peppers, onions, mustard, lettuce, tomato and shredded cheese.
Think you could finish it? The restaurant has offered a Homewrecker challenge, giving diners 12 minutes to conquer the massive creation and earn a T-shirt.
The property gets even more unusual. Hillbilly Hot Dogs has its own Weddin’ Chapel, where couples can get married or renew their vows surrounded by the restaurant’s one-of-a-kind roadside atmosphere.
The place has also attracted national attention. Guy Fieri visited Hillbilly Hot Dogs for “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” in 2007, helping introduce this wonderfully weird West Virginia stop to viewers across the country.
