Here’s the recipe for our SUPERFOOD SLAW that’s been a favorite since we opened 10 years ago! It’s so easy to talk about things you are passionate about and for me that’s MINIMALLY PROCESSED & FRESH FOOD!

About the only items on our menu we don’t make from
scratch are fries & desserts. Stop by and checkout our garden behind our Lenexa location and check out where we raise a lot of our tomatoes, onions and other vegetables during the summer.

A note on the cyclosporiasis outbreak

You may have seen recent news about cyclosporiasis cases across the United States. We’ve been following it closely. So far the only confirmed source is lettuce from central Mexico, sold by one supplier to a single national restaurant chain — though there may be others, since this tends to crop up most summers.

Good news: our lettuce has been sourced from Salinas, California for the last several weeks, and we’ve had no reports of illness from any of our customers. Pictured is a tag from one of our lettuce boxes alongside a recent article on the situation.

As always, you’re welcome to request no lettuce on any sandwich, and there’s never a charge to swap spinach for lettuce on salads.

Our Lenexa garden is THRIVING — come see it! Grab food to-go and sit in the garden with your kids to show them where their food really comes from.

🌽 Our “Bloody Butcher” heirloom corn is towering at 12 feet (14, if you count the raised bed!), growing right alongside our shorter heirloom blue corn. We just wrapped up harvesting about 120 ears of sweet corn — shared with lucky employees and customers (and yes, I personally ate about 30 ears).

🍅 40 gallons of tomatoes harvested so far from 32 plants for our sandwiches and salads — and they’re not slowing down. Growing faster than we can prune and tie!

🥒 It’s crazy how productive the cucumber plants have been hanging over the end of the beds. We’ve harvested over 50 gallons of them for our homemade pickles used on our sandwiches.

🥬 Two types of kale make up a sixth of our slaw blend — about 50 gallons worth. They’ll ease off in the heat, then come roaring back in fall.

🥗 Spring spinach hit 45 gallons and lettuce topped 150 gallons for our sandwiches and salads — though those plants have finished for the season.

🍓 We haven’t been covering our blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries, so the birds have claimed 100% of the harvest again this year. Will be happy to donate these plants to someone because I’m kinda over it 🫣. Just lmk!

🌸 The pansies for our craft cocktail ice balls are hanging in there despite the heat under the shade of our two Moonglow Magnolia trees. These trees will bloom (and smell incredible) all summer while setting their gorgeous red seed pods.

🦋 Zinnias, buckwheat, three sunflower varieties, and three types of milkweed are putting on a show for monarchs and other pollinators. We’ve also got okra (try it raw with our Farmstead Ranch!), white sweet potatoes, horseradish, rhubarb, chard, edamame, and more herbs than you can count.

Come get your food to-go and dine at one of the picnic tables at our Lenexa Moonglow Garden! Kids eat free yellow or purple cherry tomatoes and get to pick their own zinnia to take home. 🌻
