Matt’s Barbecue Lemont is beyond excited to be bringing this beast up from Texas. B4 Barbecue and Nolan have been absolutely great throughout this process and I cannot wait to get cooking on this pit!!! Just to have a pit that’s part of Texas Monthly top 50 and it being tied to a pitmaster like Nolan is an honor!!! We look forward to getting her up and running and pumping out some great barbecue.

All good things must come to an end.

I knew this day was coming, but I honestly didn’t think I’d be this sad to see this pit go. Big Barry is officially headed to his new home in Chicago.

This was my first 1,000-gallon pit. My first real big-boy pit. The one we started cooking on over four years ago, the one that helped us grow B4, and the one I’ve used to teach my guys the craft over the years.

There have been a whole lot of fires burned, briskets cooked, lessons learned, long nights, early mornings, and memories made around this pit. Big Barry will always hold a special place in my heart and in the B4 story.

But sometimes growth means letting go of something that helped get you where you are so you can make room for what’s next.

As sad as I am to see it leave, I’m equally excited about the relationship we’re building with Bison Smokers. We absolutely love our Bison 1K gallon in Rhome, and I can’t wait to show y’all what we have coming next.

Matts Barbecue, take care of Big Barry and he’ll take care of you. He’s been damn good to us over the years, and I can’t wait to see him putting out some killer BBQ up north.

Four years. A whole lot of BBQ. A whole lot of memories.

Safe travels, Big Barry. You earned it.
