Message from the Owner of FishWater: Ken Colton
Dear Friends,
I have made the difficult decision to close DockYacht and FishWater effective July 1, 2021 until further notice.
Despite how long our business has been serving the community, there has been an ongoing disagreement with the State based on ambiguity as to how our alcohol license applies in respect to FishWater. After all this we need to press the pause button to step back and fully assess our options.
Over the past 12 years we, as a family, have operated multiple businesses which provide
entertainment for the public on and around Lake Murray. The ultimate goal for FishWater is to provide the same communal environment as we had last year in the summer of 2020.
Since the forced closure of FishWater Beer Garden in October of 2020, we have actively worked with our lawyers and the State to re-open our Beer Garden. DockYacht was a temporary compromise we decided to offer our community in an effort to provide a family friendly place for people to gather and enjoy Lake Murray. We will continue to work towards our ultimate goal of providing a local Beer Garden for all to enjoy although we had to make the difficult decision to temporarily close.
The decision to close is bittersweet but we have hopes of a positive outcome in the near future. We are thankful for our loyal supporters and new friends who continue to pull for us every step of the way. We have enjoyed seeing so many familiar faces this summer and we hope everyone has a wonderful and SAFE 4th of July weekend.
