The crowd at Saturday's Lebanon Route 66 Centennial Festival stuck around for the first Wing Wars, a wing-eating contest sponsored by Slim Chickens. City leaders and staffers, including Mayor Jared Carr and City Administrator Troy Schulte, competed in the first contest, seeing who could eat the most Buffalo wings in five minutes. Each started with 30. The winner was Robert Parkhurst of the city's fleet-management team, who put away 20 wings. Winner in the open competition was Cody Dulaney of St. Charles who ate 26 wings in five minutes. Dulaney, who was on a roadtrip and heard about the contest, won the $500 cash prize. An audience of more than 100 watched the competitions, many of them cheering for their favorites.
