Guys, please remember to stay hydrated, especially during these hot summer days. I've heard from several healthcare workers that they're seeing a lot of patients come in dehydrated. Drink plenty of water and take care of yourselves.
One of my chefs is in the hospital today, and it made me think about something. As a family member, it can be overwhelming when you don't know what tests are being done or why. Sometimes you're wondering, "Have they checked for an infection? Have they done blood work? Have they done a urine test?" It can be a very stressful experience.
I also remember talking to someone whose family member spent several days in the hospital before a urinary tract infection was diagnosed. Experiences like that remind us how important it is to ask questions, stay informed, and be an advocate for the people we love. Don't be afraid to ask the doctor or nurse what tests have been done, what they're looking for, and what the next steps are.
Today we're also sending some empanadas to the nurses as a small thank-you for the hard work they do every day. We appreciate our healthcare workers and everything they do for our community.
Have you ever had an experience where asking questions helped you or a loved one get better care? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
