Shelby ❤️

This amazing human. You all know Shelby- and to know her is to love her.

She joined us as a dinner server in January 2022, just before we closed dinner (great timing on our part). She immediately pivoted to help launch our fried chicken food truck that March, then stepped into the role of food truck manager after summer. When Penn Cove Brewing closed, she did what Shelby does best; adapted, stepped up, and became our General Manager.

Over the past few years, she’s done it all. She can run the line, host, serve, bartend… and does it all with a smile. She remembers birthdays, bakes treats, snuggles all the puppies, keeps us organized, and brings a kind of positive energy that holds everything together (plus a laugh that makes alllll the difference in restaurant life).

I may have almost two decades on her, but the lessons I’ve learned from Shelby are more than I can count- To say I’m proud of her would be an understatement. To say I’m grateful for her doesn’t even begin to cover it. Plus, I know how to use Google Drive now, thanks to her.

Shelby and her fiancé Alex (yes, that friendly and familiar face at the Smokehouse) are heading back east next week for their next adventure. We’re so excited for them, but will miss them more than we can say.

If you can, come by this weekend to see her off. She’ll be around- very possibly laughing, crying, or both (let’s be real, I’ll be the one crying).

We love you, Shelbs. Thank you will never be enough 🫶
