📍 Pit stop at Goodwill on my way to the restaurant supply store.

Today isn’t just ice cream day—it’s also my day to get some of my Wednesday work done and get stocked up for the week ahead. I’ll be heading to North Jersey later this week to watch my little cousin graduate middle school, so I’m trying to stay ahead of the game.

One thing people don’t always realize is that being open 4 days a week doesn’t mean the owner gets 3 days off. There’s always ordering, shopping, paperwork, maintenance, and a hundred other things happening behind the scenes.

I’ve learned it’s important to take a small piece of those 3 days and enjoy it. Today that means a little thrifting. Wednesday it means spending time with family. All work and no fun makes Jay a very miserable person.

Happy Monday, everyone. Hope to see you all later in the week for pretzel roll cheesesteaks and more

Chuck was the very first foodie back in 2014 to make the trip out to Jay’s Joint way back when we introduced the Buffalo Dip. Hard to believe how much has changed since then.

Now we want to know…

Who’s your favorite foodie? Tag them below and tell them what they need to order when they finally make it out to Jay’s Joint.

Is it the Pretzel Roll Cheesesteak? The Beer Dip? Buffalo Dip Eggrolls? The Jay-PhilA?

And don’t forget to tell them… is it gluten free or regular?

Drop their name and their order in the comments. Let’s see who gets tagged the most and what menu items are getting all the love.

A quick correction to my earlier post — we’re not short-staffed today. In fact, the average age of our kitchen crew today is 31 instead of the usual 40. Just a younger crew holding down the fort!

Now for a question…

Would you like to see the Porkzel make a return for Father’s Day next Sunday?

Think slow-roasted sliced pork, broccoli rabe, a sharp cheese blend, and roasted garlic spread, all stuffed inside one of our pretzel rolls.

👍 Yes
❤️ Absolutely
😢 No thanks

Let us know in the comments.

Not all cheesesteak shops are created equal.

Sure, we could jump on the latest trend and serve up a seeded roll with Cooper Sharp, but that’s never really been what Jay’s has been about. As I often say, we’re busy walking our own path.

For the last 13 years, we’ve built our reputation on doing things differently. Every sandwich can be wrapped to go, boxed with fries, or boxed with our homemade chips. While we love a traditional cheesesteak topped with our melted Cooper blend cheese, we’re also known for our pretzel roll sandwiches, huge gluten-free menu, and signature dip sandwiches.

Today’s feature is a perfect example of walking our own path: garlic bread topped with our French onion soup cream cheese spread, chopped steak, dusted onions, and melted Swiss cheese. It’s our take on a French dip cheesesteak, and it’s one of those sandwiches that reminds people we’re not your typical cheesesteak shop.

Whether you’re craving something unique or sticking with a classic cheesesteak, we’ve got you covered.

We’re here until 8 PM today.

It’s time to disappoint some people…

Don’t worry—you still have three weeks to get your Jay’s fix.

After almost 20 years in business, we’ve decided it’s time to take a much-needed family vacation. With America celebrating its 250th birthday, it seemed like the perfect opportunity to step away for a few days, recharge, and make some memories.

Jay’s will be closed June 29th through July 8th and will reopen July 9th.

Before anyone panics, you still have three weeks to stop in for your cheesesteaks, pretzel rolls, ice cream, and all your favorites.

Even while we’re closed, there’s one thing we won’t take a vacation from: helping our community.

We will still be holding Food Bank Day on Monday, July 6th. The need at our local pantries doesn’t take a holiday, and after more than a decade of monthly donations, we’re not about to skip a month now.

Thank you for supporting us through the ups and downs, the menu experiments, the crazy ideas, and everything in between. We’re looking forward to a little family time and coming back refreshed and ready for the second half of the year.

For now, though, you’ve got three weeks left before we disappear for a few days.

Today I saw online that On The Border is closing, and I couldn’t help but think back to when Chi-Chi’s shut down for good. Sure, they sold the salsa in jars afterward, but it was never the same as sitting in the restaurant with a basket of chips.

I’ve always loved On The Border’s fresh salsa, so tonight on my way home I made a detour and picked up what will probably be the last quart of it I’ll ever buy.

Funny how certain foods become tied to different chapters of your life. One day it’s just salsa, and the next it’s a memory.

Tonight, I took home one last quart. Just no football on my tv 🌶️🥣❤️

Some days remind you just how quickly plans can change. The day started with a 5 a.m. seizure from Miss Gravy, which put a lot of things into perspective and threw a wrench into the day.

Even so, we were able to keep moving forward and make it down to Firehouse 25 in Kensington to serve lunch for the shift change crew. This meal was made possible by the winner of our first raffle fundraiser to help Dr. Driy get his teeth fixed.

Next week we’ll announce our next raffle, but today was a reminder of what community is all about—neighbors helping neighbors. And judging by the smiles, I think the firefighters enjoyed it too

Well looks like you can bring your grad by for lunch on the patio for lunch after graduation now on Saturday.

Let’s hope the weather holds off for my fireman lunch/dinner I am serving later this afternoon

WEATHER ALERT, GRADUATION CEREMONY POSTPONED: After careful review of the latest weather forecasts and extensive consultation with an AccuWeather meteorologist, Bucks County school administrators, our Middletown Township Police Department partners, and the District and school administration, we have decided to reschedule Neshaminy High School's graduation ceremony to Saturday, June 13th at 11:00 a.m.
This decision was not made lightly. Our primary goal has always been to provide our graduates and their families with the memorable outdoor graduation experience they have anticipated and deserve. However, the forecast for this evening and the rest of the week includes the potential for severe thunderstorms, including lightning that would require stadium evacuation, and dangerous heat conditions, with a Heat Advisory in effect. Based on the latest information available, we believe rescheduling the ceremony is the best decision for the health, safety, and well-being of our graduates, families, staff, and guests.
By moving the ceremony to Saturday morning, we are maximizing the opportunity to hold graduation outdoors while providing a safer and more enjoyable experience for our entire school community. We know this change may require adjustments to your plans, and we appreciate your understanding and flexibility as we prioritize the safety of all attendees.
Additional details regarding Saturday's ceremony will be communicated as soon as possible.
We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the Class of 2026 together on Saturday and thank you for your continued support of our graduates.

Saw this mug today and couldn’t help but laugh.

“Be a unicorn in a sea of horses.”

Pretty much sums up how I’ve lived most of my life.

First, thank you to the guy who stopped me to say hello while I was wandering around 2nd Ave Thrift. Encounters like that still catch me off guard, but they always make my day.

I’ve never been one to do things because “that’s how everyone else does it.” Whether it’s how I run the Joint, the fundraiser ideas we come up with, or some of the crazy projects I take on, I’ve always believed in following my own path.

The funny thing about choosing a different road is that it tends to attract opinions. Social media has made it easier than ever for people to tell you what they think you should be doing, how you should be doing it, or why your idea won’t work.

The truth is, if I had listened to all those opinions over the years, Jay’s Joint wouldn’t be what it is today. Some ideas have worked, some haven’t, but every one of them taught me something.

At the end of the day, I’d rather be authentic than spend my life trying to fit into someone else’s mold.

So here’s your reminder: it’s okay to be the unicorn. The world already has plenty of horses. 🦄

We’re not booking the Ambassador for the 2026 season, but tomorrow she gets to share the pretzel roll love with some Philadelphia firefighters.

The winner of our recent raffle chose to use her prize to feed her husband and the crew he works with, so today I got the Ambassador cleaned up and ready for her first event of the season.

We’ll be doing more raffles and a few other fundraisers throughout the year to help raise money to fix Andriy’s teeth—or as I like to call him, Dr. Driy.

In the meantime, the Joint will be back open Thursday serving up pretzel roll cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, milkshakes, and more. Thanks to everyone who continues to support our little neighborhood spot and the projects that mean so much to us

Mondays are usually reserved for cleaning the ice cream machine, but this morning those plans got pushed back for a stack of party tray orders.

One of the things I love about our party trays is that you don’t have to choose between regular rolls and pretzel rolls—you can have both on the same tray and keep everyone happy.

Whether you’re feeding an office, a graduation party, a family gathering, or just a hungry crowd, we’ve got you covered with gluten-free and gluten-full options.

We know we don’t answer phones at the Joint, but party trays are easy to order:

📱 Call or text 215-741-6555

Now that the trays are done, maybe I can finally get back to that ice cream machine.

Another week in the books, and another week without our ice cream cookie sandwiches.

I figured it was time for a little transparency.

Like everyone else, we’re feeling the effects of rising costs. The gluten-free cookies we use for our ice cream sandwiches have now more than doubled in price from when we first started carrying them. I’ve spent the last few weeks trying to find a more affordable option from another gluten-free baker and even looking into the possibility of making them in-house.

The cookies have gotten so expensive that I’d need to charge over $10 for an ice cream sandwich just to maintain the same margins we’ve always had. That’s not a price I’m comfortable asking people to pay, so for now we’ve decided to hit pause while we look for a better solution.

For now, we’ll be bringing back slices of ice cream cake, and after our vacation in a few weeks, I’m hoping we’ll have a new plan in place. More details on that tomorrow.

On a related note, we’ve been reopened for 7 months now, and today I received our sixth notice that beef prices are going up again—another 20 cents per pound starting next week. I bought enough to get us through until vacation, hopefully giving me some time to figure out what comes next. There comes a point where you can only absorb rising costs for so long before decisions have to be made.

At the same time, I’m trying to manage my own health, continue losing weight so I can have the surgery I need, run the day-to-day operations of the Joint, and keep prices as reasonable as possible for our customers. Some days it feels like every challenge shows up at once.

But we’re still here. We’re still fighting. We’re still serving the gluten-free and gluten-full food that got us here in the first place. And we’re still doing everything we can to keep Jay’s Joint affordable for the families who support us.

Thank you for sticking with us through all of it. ❤️

— Jay

Sometimes being a small business owner means making decisions you don’t like. I’d rather be honest with you about why we’re making them.

Growing Up on Jay’s Joint

One of the best parts of being here for all these years is getting to watch kids grow up.

This little guy has been part of the Jay’s Joint family for years. Even when in his momma’s belly . As a toddler , chicken fingers were always his go-to order. But about 7 years ago, when we introduced our gluten-free pretzel roll cheesesteaks, everything changed. One bite and he was hooked.

The gluten-free community has always been a huge part of our story, and photos like this remind us how many families we’ve been lucky enough to serve through the years. The kids in these old pictures are getting bigger, but some things never change… a great cheesesteak is still a great cheesesteak.

We’re here until 8 PM tonight serving up gluten-free and gluten-full cheesesteaks, chicken fingers, onion explosions, fried pickles, and more.

Stop by and make a few memories of your own. ❤️
