Please read from Cornwall Kitten Fosters: We have a special request to make for assistance to fund a needed medical procedure for Relic, our gentle and cuddly kitten friend.
Relic came to us as a small kitten from a property where we were performing TNR with problems including being severely underweight and experiencing difficulty breathing. When he didn't improve enough, he underwent an evaluation and work up including an ultrasound, which indicated that a nasopharyngeal polyp was the cause of the breathing issues.
In December of 2025, he underwent total ear canal ablation ("TECA") surgery. While initially he did well after that surgery, his ear is folded as a result of the surgery, that is not expected to improve. Also, he developed a spinal abscess and serious fever for which he underwent additional treatment. Although the spinal abscess and fever resolved, he continued to experience breathing difficulty with raspy breathing and some low oxygen levels.
He was back for additional work up with Pet Emergency Treatment Center and Specialty providers, and a CT scan showed nasal stricture, which is an abnormal narrowing or blockage of the upper airway passage behind the nose, which is capable of being addressed surgically. After weighing the pros and cons of the surgery and how Relic is doing, it has become clear that Relic needs the surgery in order to improve the quality of his life and to help him find his furever home.
Relic has a consultation scheduled on August 31, 2026 with Lancaster Veterinary Specialists in preparation for surgery that we believe will involve the balloon dilation method to open the stricture. We have been quoted $3,800.00 to $4,500.00 as the cost of this surgery. In light of the fact that we already have more than $5,000.00 invested in this dear boy with the prior care he required, we have created a special Go Fund Me account seeking donations toward Relic's upcoming surgery and care.
Please consider donating any amount you are able to help us continue to provide care for this special boy who has been through a lot already, even the smallest of amounts help! If you are not able to donate, please consider spreading the word about Relic and our need to raise funds to continue with his care by sharing this email and keep us in your thoughts and hearts.
Thank you for all you do to help others in need! We will provide additional updates on Relic as his care continues to progress!
