Oct 3rd // Meet The Producer: Learn firsthand from coffee producer, Aurelio Villatoro, what it takes to grow exceptional coffee and the dedication behind every cup!

Join us at Sweet Bloom’s coffee roastery on Saturday, October 3rd to meet Aurellio Villatoro and his daughter, Christa. They will be visiting from Huehuetanango, Guatemala! This event allows us coffee drinkers to go beyond the cup, and connect with the work and dedication that goes into growing amazing coffee.

Coffee will be provided, along with light snacks and other refreshments!

Jhonny Alvarado // Last year we had the great honor of hosting Jhonny at Sweet Bloom. Now we have the honor of sharing two of his top tier lots with you!

This first lot is wash processed and a honeyed sweetness is prevalent throughout. Fresh off the grind the aromatics are a blend of soft florals and warm honey. In the cup we are tasting yellow fruits like golden raisin and starfruit, all wrapped up in a nougat honey sweetness. Clean, sweet, balanced, and just right to welcome the cooler fall days.

WE’VE BEEN NAMED THE BEST ROASTER IN THE U.S. & CANADA!

The 2026 Global Coffee Awards have named Sweet Bloom the U.S. & Canada’s Best Roaster—and we are deeply honored and humbled by this recognition.

All four coffees we submitted received Gold, Silver, Bronze, or Finalist awards. Our natural gesha from Honduras, produced by Angel Paz, had the Top 4 highest score in the entire competition!

Coffee is never the work of one person. This recognition begins with the remarkable producers who grew these coffees and extends through every person who helped bring them to life.

We’re especially grateful for Andy Sprenger and Miguel Vicuna’s thoughtful sourcing and the long-standing producer relationships behind our coffees; for our Head Roaster, Nelicia Miranda-Troup; and for our entire production crew, whose precision, dedication, and care can be tasted in every roast.

Thank you to the Global Coffee Awards, to the producers who entrust us with their work, to our extraordinary team, and to every person who has brewed and shared Sweet Bloom over the years. We don’t take any of it for granted.

Maria Gutierrez // This is our first time offering a coffee from Maria and it is fantastic! Maria's farm is called Aguacate, named for the three Avocado trees her late husband planted on the land. With the help of her two sons Saúl and Efraín, Maria continues to improve on infrastructure and quality and it shows.

Fresh off the grind the aromatics are sweet and fruit forward. Though processed naturally, we are tasting fruits like ripe peach, and mandarin in contrast to the dark fruit notes we typically associate with naturals. This is a lovely fruit forward pacamara.

Uraga // Our first natural offering from Ethiopia of 2026. This gem comes from the Uraga Washing Station where ~ 850 smallholder farmers bring their harvest. We've always loved naturals from Ethiopia that exhibit tropical and berry notes while maintaining a clean cup and holding true to their terroir. This Uraga is just that.

Fresh off the grind the aromatics are sweet and tropical. In the cup we are tasting everything from guava to berry notes like raspberry, all wrapped up in a milk chocolate sweetness. If you love well balanced fruit forward coffees without intense ferment, look no further!

Danche // This lot has everything we love about washed coffees from Ethiopia - big florals, juicy peach acidity and a prominent honeyed sweetness.

Aaga Dinsa, a well known producer in Gedeb, works with 144 small plot growers to create this special lot. Late summer into fall seems to be when the best coffees from Ethiopia hit their peak flavor profile. This is for sure true of Danche - it is lights out tasty!

Fresh off the grind the aromatics are intensely floral and sweet. Peach rings predominate in the cup while a floral jasmine note lingers in the background. The big mouthfeel combined with a deep honeyed sweetness makes for a very complete and very tasty cup of coffee. Don't miss out on this one!

Familia Marin // Our first offering from Mexico for 2026 comes from the family of Hermenegildo Marin. Expect loads of chocolate and a nougat sweetness. We've been enjoying Hermenegildo Marin's coffee for years now so when the opportunity arose to purchase a blended lot from him and his siblings (Francisca, and Angel), we were in!

Fresh off the grind expect loads of sweet cocoa in the aromatics. In the cup, a brownie like chocolate persists from hot to cold is joined by a juicy pineapple like acidity all wrapped up in a nougat sweetness. This definitely falls into our comfort coffee category and if you love chocolaty sweet cups, look no further!
