Named after the Roamers hockey team that played in Lake Placid 1940-1970. “You have to be uncommon,” said Herb Brooks, head coach of the 1980 U.S. Though he wasn’t talking about food, he could well have been talking about Roamers, the new bar and bistro in the Olympic Center’s Miracle Plaza. Named for the independent New York Rangers’ ice hockey farm team that called Lake Placid home from 1946 to
1952, there’s nothing regular about Roamers. It’s an expansive new space with a sleek and contemporary vibe, steps away from two historic ice arenas and overlooking a third. Here, you’ll find casual, lip-smacking-good food served alongside eye-popping, panoramic views of the Olympic Village and the Adirondacks highest peaks. The menu is casual and meant to satisfy, with both locally and internationally inspired menu selections. Take it to go or dine in and savor a good wine or cocktail, too. The totality of the experience is pleasing in every way you could expect from a simple bite to eat.
