PARK AVENUE ICON: Orchid Thai Cuisine.
Almost 20 years ago, Orchid Thai Cuisine was founded by Sue and Lucky Manatad - inspired by family recipes passed down from Sue’s mother in Bangkok. Today Orchid serves authentic Thai cuisine rooted in generations of family tradition. For Sue, food has always been an expression of love. Before the restaurant ever opened, she was known for hosting gatherings highlighted by homemade dishes and generous hospitality. Lucky grows many of the ingredients—including lemongrass, Thai basil, kaffir lime leaves and green papaya—that are used in the restaurant’s offerings. Son Richard and daughters Annie and Gibby also work together to preserve the flavors and the values that have always defined Orchid—which owes its nearly two decades of success to “authenticity, consistency and family.
