What a great weekend we had this past weekend with the FAM 10 year anniversary party + brunch and a beautiful wedding.
This was one of the dishes from Brunch which was one of my newest and easiest ulu recipes - chewy ulu dumplings!
Recipe for dumplings is below
You’ll need a bread mixer with paddle attachment or a food processor
- 4 c steamed ulu (peeled/cored and still hot from steaming)
- 1 T salt or to taste
Run on low then medium then high for atleast 5 minutes until all pieces are broken up. 1 of 3 things is going to happen depending on moisture in ulu
1. It will not form a dough ball and will look like little pellets, if this is the case, run on low/medium and gradually add warm/hot water until it forms a dough ball which is not sticky to the touch, then keep adding water slowly until it becomes sticky to the touch but if you put a tiny bit of olive oil on your finger it’s no longer sticky
2. It forms a dough ball - then keep adding water slowly until it becomes sticky to the touch but if you put a tiny bit of olive oil on your finger it’s no longer sticky
3. It’s too sticky/wet to form a dough ball, if you can make it into little balls with slightly oiled hands it’s perfect, if it’s too sticky for that, let it cool slightly then it should work.

Form your balls and either Sautee immediately or refrigerate in well oiled container and use within a week.
I sautéed mine in housemaid chili crunch.

Can you taste the summer in this photo? I can!
This is the special for Friday dinner!
It’s a farm grown sweet corn pie with our famous v/gf ulu crust topped with the best avocados ever, heirloom tomato pico de gallo (I mean who does that?!?😍😍 nobody makes pico out of heirloom tomatoes, but us) served with farm grown potato wedges.
Potatoes and corn are often grown using some of the worst practices for you and the environment from over tilling to spraying ungodly amounts of glyphosate, but you can sleep easy knowing these were grown not just organically but regeneratively.
So come see us Friday or Sunday for brunch!

Gratitude for the farm to be able to continue feeding people, Gratitude for the healing we’ve all done and healing that there is yet to do. And hope for a positive future, and holding space for those who lost their lives 2 years ago today.

Everyone’s healing journey is different and if we can be in any way a part to help yours, please come dine with us tomorrow for dinner. FREE for lahaina fire survivors who lost homes.
