Aloha everyone,
First off I want to say Mahalo to all the people who have reached out to check on me, my family, and my friends. This tragedy is impacting so many people in so many ways. Everyone has been reacting differently and everyone will need different amounts of time to heal and recover. I had to take time away from Facebook and being online in general as the feeling of helplessness was and is extremely overwhelming. Being so far away and not hearing from anyone in the first few days was heartbreaking. Knowing that I cannot be on the ground and helping because it doesn't make sense for me to go home because I have nowhere to stay is devasting. I could go on and on in this vein but that is not the real point of this post. This is to say thank you to all the people who have donated money time and effort to help me personally, my father who hiked out of the fire battling 70 mph gusts of wind like an absolute madman, my staff from Spanky's Riptide and the rest of my friends and family who have been uprooted by this fire.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
With that being said we still need help in Lahaina. A common phrase has been going around. This is a marathon not a sprint and that is very true. Please do not forget about us. Please continue to spread the word. Please continue to donate money time or effort. The more help we can get from outside of the community the better.
I have posted my personal gofundme below but do not feel obligated to me. I just ask that you spread the word of what happened and make it clear that we still need help. There are thousands of displaced people, people who have lost more than just their homes. If you can, please find someone to donate to.
