Remembering what it’s all been about. This is the legendary Harley, Grandpa to Chef Greg Daniels, and the inspiration for our restaurant. He was an incredibly charismatic man who was loved by many.

Friends -

Opening Harley was a dream. It was personal and heartfelt and real. Named after my Grandfather, our goal was to emulate the hospitality I felt as a young boy in my grandparents’ home. We opened this restaurant with friends and family backing us. My best friend partnered with me and believed in us. My wife and kids supported every decision along the way. What a run it’s been! We accomplished so much!

As we approach the end of our lease, we are very sad to announce that we will be closing our doors on July 1st, ending our time here in Laguna Beach. It wasn’t long enough, and we are heartbroken that we can’t stay. It’s never easy, but it was a truly unfortunate time to open a restaurant; no one could have expected a pandemic to come along and bring such abrupt winds of change. That said, our heads are high and we’ll be enjoying our final month with you. �
We are thankful for every person that came through our front and back doors. Every guest and every vendor - every dishwasher, host, manager, cook, server, bartender – each added their flavor to Harley. Our handyman and friend Kent that has saved us so many times over I can’t count! So many memories were made! I will keep them and cherish them forever.

Our biggest achievement has been gaining the adoration of this little beach community. We wanted to be a locals’ spot. By supporting the community through efforts such as Schoolpower and Sally’s Fund, and trying to reflect the values we hold dear, if you’ve walked through our doors, I’m sure you felt the love. We accepted everyone as they came and wanted you to feel warm and welcome in our home.

We worked very hard to build Harley into something we are proud of – something Harley himself would have been proud of. We think we did a damn fine job of it.

We know someone will come along and open something in this space, and the green walls will be painted anew. Support them and make them feel welcome. Small businesses need you.

We hope the memories made at Harley will live on in your hearts. If you have a yearning for one last meal or drink with us, please come by for a visit.

Harley was as hardworking a man as you’ve ever met.
When it came time to let loose, he made sure to do it right!

If he wasn’t in his own living room with a guitar, playing country songs with friends and family, you’d find him at a local h***y tonk with Grandma Mary tearing up the floor with a two-step, and then having a cold one with a smile just like this one on his face.

We miss him, but he lives on in his children and grandchildren, and we honor his spirit here with smiles of our own when you visit. We try to keep things light, while being intentional with every step - just like Harley on the dance floor.

Join us this weekend, or next week, or anytime you need to take a load off. We’ve got you.
